I was thinking about how RC and Dung are very close friends and the fact that whenever RC talks about him it always seems like he is disappointing or down on his riding. I just wonder how that sits with Dung and how much RC tells him that when they are riding.

I'll bite...

I havent seen RC be diasppointed in RD, though I guess it is possible. I did hear him say that Ryan needs to be more aggressive or along those lines during the A1 broadcast. I think that is the truth, Im not sure what the deal is, but Ryan just doesn't seem to ride as aggressive as he could at times. Thats not really anything new...

I'm sure he tells Dungey the same stuff he say's on the broadcast.

But Dungey is good enough and succsesful enough to make his own on track decisions.

Ya, I guess it was just the way he was saying Ryan just sits back and isn't aggressive and he is what he is. They way he sounded was kinda like, come on man step it up.

It's "Dunge" NOT "Dung". Dung is a shitty nickname to give a guy!

Yeah, every time RC is asked about Dunge, or his predictions for the race it's never Dungey for some reason? I've never heard RC completely put him down, but he could say once in a while "Dungeys the man tonight.." Sounds stupid, but if I was RD. Those words from the GOAT would be all I need.

When he talks favorably about him the legends of the sport like Jake Weimer start tweeting that he is saying too many nice things.

Can't win.

It's true, RC just wants to see him ride more aggressively. He wants Ryan Dungey to become Lion Lungey.

He's always thought Stewart was the fastest, yet he picked Dungey for the title in 2011, right? So that's something. He knows he's consistent and he'll be there every week, but he also knows he isn't gonna go out there and blow away RV and Stewart. RC's just being real, yo.

Why is it guys give Dungey shit about being complacent, not aggressive, almost never crashing and not riding over his head and then in the next thread give Stewart shit for being Mister Komakazi, crashing all the time and being too aggressive and riding over his head?

Maybe it has something to do with wanting to be honest about his prediction and more importantly, right? If anyone had said "tonight is Dungey's night" in SX last year, they would have been right once and wrong 16 times. In fact, RC refused to pick anyone before the race other than who would get holeshot, apparently from catching shit from his thoughts during last year?

There's a balance. That's why Dungey's the new Reed and, if anyone, Villopoto's the new Carmichael.

p.s. Canard's the new Stewart.

Yeah, kinda of a stupid comment on my part. But, in the last few years, funny enough there have been times when RD has been fastest. I see what you mean, but when RC has commentated and given his choice, he has never said: 'Dungey'. I didn't mean it in RC's honest opinion, but if you had a guy who rides at your track and is close to you, surely RC would kinda say "My boy Dungey......" or whatever.

I don't undertand the last sentance, but I get the rest of what youre saying. I was just poiting out that, being Ryan and RC have a lot of similar sponsors: Fox, Oakley, asterisk and makita suzuki last year. It's just a bit odd he'd rarely see them as the guy to beat. I'm not saying he needs to come out and say "RD's the man. He will win regardless.. bla bla.." but surely he'd acknowledge him more? Which realisticly this post is about.

Guess RC's wise and doesnt want to be biased or show his opinion As he could do that and get it wrong. He doesnt like to lose. I think he is just keeping his mouth shut, because he knows he can beat those guys easily, and he's secretly plotting a comeback. (Chevy Trucks Kx 250 mounted Wink )

the problem is all these guys think they are the bee's knees and that everyone should kiss their ass and nobody else's.

now i'm not saying Dungey does, or RV does, or this or that.

just saying that one thing that gets mentioned by a journalist, broadcaster, reporter, etc is blown up by not only the fans, but the riders. look at Matthes' "GeicoGate" from the nationals last year. all he said was that he didn't think any of the Geico riders would win a race or beat the Monster (after 8-9 rounds) guys and all hell broke loose.

for RC to say that RV is going to smoke everyone, he would be getting twittered, texted, called, etc telling him that he is way off base. if he said that his favorite was RD, then we would get the Weimer's of the world tweeting him and calling bull shit.

best to not give an opinion, sadly enough. sure we want to know who he wants/picks as a favorite, but the guys that get their feelings hurt are the ones that ruin it for everyone.

just my opinion, post a few beers.

Interesting thread, has crossed my mind numerous times. I want to believe RC is trying to motivate RD while calling it as it is.
Anyone who questions RD's heart is not a real fan of MX/SX, that goes for you little scooterboy. Is that what Mommy called you?
