Do you pay those that make the main at a SX, or pay all of those that entered and tried to qualify? How about at the Nationals?
if the AMA had any brains or balls in the past they would have set the minimum at a maximum...too full of themselves and too stupid to do that. things would have been adjusted.

remember the claiming rule? the big 4 said screw you we won't race. we all know differently though don't we. they would have been at the very next race with stockers...good.

more cash for guys like Magoo and others at the time.

remember!!!! the AMA set the MINIMUM!

Why is everyone worried about the riders making money? They seem to be doing just fine. For example Kyle Lewis who never won a National MX or SX made enough money to collect Rolex watches.

Now I agree the 40th place guy does not make eonugh to pay the bills but then again the 40th place guy needs to find a job that he can pay the bills after he gets done chasing his dream ride.

Please dont start bring up what NASCAR pays its 40th place driver because it dont matter. Motocross pays the few riders who have the most talent and thats how it should be.

With gasoline prices being what they are, and ticket prices being pretty high, attendence at Nationals looks to me like it's down a bit this year. I don't know the real figures - if ANYONE really does - but lots of people at Glen Helen said it was down, I don't know about Hangtown, but Freestone was no more that 50% of what it was last year. I also don't know about High Point, but rain the day before couldn't have helped.

I can see why - My son and I went to Freestone, spent $60 to get in the gate, $50 on a couple of tshirts, used about 20 gallons of gas for about $80, ate the lunch and drank the water we brought, and wound up paying almost $200 for the day. The problem is, not much of that money went to the promoter and even less went to the riders. Gas was the single biggest cost. At that rate, the Nationals are going to have to change significantly or they'll die. That's just the way it is.
It probably only cost you $20 more for gas than last year. Not sure about you but I'll skip buying a T-shirt if it means we can attend. Everyone talks like they are the poorest people in the country since gas went up.

Holy Shit this is the first post in a long time where thinking heads have come together, not beat the shit out of each other, and have made some great points.
