Some really crazy logic being thrown around.
Suppose, for shits and giggles, someone paid you $30,000 a year to use there stuff and someone else said "use our stuff, you can use our bike and we won't pay you anything. Maybe you'll do good on our bike and get noticed or maybe you'll crash your brains out and wind up with nothing.

Well if you were going to be paid 30,000 for doing nothing are you were going to be paid nothing for doing something which one would you take to pay your bills?

The purse money is a joke. It makes the whole sport look like a joke to the outside. I don't care if some tradeoff has to happen, but the purse money needs to be drastically increased if this is to be seen by the general public as a serious sport.

the reason purse money needs to be BIG:

if the promoters and sanctioning body need to make a ton of money to pay the riders.....they will figure out a way to make it!

the way it is....they dont need anything more than 2 billboards and a string fence to make their money!

I hate when people post and dont really know what they are talking about. Mikey was mighty close to riding a red bike instead of a yellow one this year.

what happened to the cash flow from KABOOM? Deffinitely more questions than answeres on this one.

I like how he says he and Mike ride the same pace. They were up at Washougal for a well paying local race and Jeff was way off of Mike in a 6 or 7 lap race.

He said they run the same pace during practice, which I hear about all the time from lots of different sources, so I believe it. Read the whole thing before you make dumb posts.

All three alessi's were on dmxs last night.
Tony & Jeff break down the entire scenerio.

Alot of things don't add up and then to top it off, Tony Alessi says that sx needs to do away with rhythmn sections.

It would make the racing better if they did.

If he can run his pace in practice then why couldn't he do it a a local race with them running one/two for a short number of laps? I think that would be the perfect situation to be able to shadow Mikey and yet it didn't happen. This isn't hear-say I was there and saw it happen all weekend.

The deal is that you need to take everything that you do serious. And at that level you better not forget that. I personaly think that the Alessi's are good people. But when you have to start all over why let your son flounder and not help him go forward no matter the cost. Jeff has serious speed thats not the problem. He has to stay focused and get the results and be there when the oppertunity arises with a better deal he can be in a position to take it.

So let me get this straight: Jeff could race the entire national series for free and possibly put in good enough results to secure a spot on a good team for next year, OR stay loyal to the ugliest helmet and gear in motocross and sit out the rest of the nationals. Yeah good call buddy, way to think things through. OMG
Remember, he signed on for a supercross only deal. His current sponsors came on board and even offered to go outdoors with him just to help. Is that completely wise to burn a bridge and leave them hanging to go race 7 more races? Your quote, "Jeff could race the entire national series." After Colorado, thats only 7 rounds left, almost half the outdoors, not the entire series. Jump ship on life long sponsors that he shares with his brother, just to go finish the outdoors? Never mind the fact that its' for no money, never mind the fact that outdoors pays shit. How much would he stand to lose if Shark and Alpinestars didn't have him on next year?

"Cood call buddy, way to think things through. OMG", thats what you should have done before you posted.

Dude that's just my opinion, relax. It just seems this is the best Jeff has done so far in his career, and it seems like if you have a good oppurtinity you should take it when you can... seeing how most rider's window to get on a good team is so small and the rider's careers are so short. Afterall, isn't Jeff considered a better national rider than sx rider? And how many pros have we seen earn a factory ride based on mx skills rather than sx skills? A lot...most racers catch the attention of factory teams from their outdoor results, and THEN they learn sx skills later after they get signed. Just seems to me he should keep the ball rolling and finish the entire national series as best he can to show future teams what he can do... That's just me though.

Its a crying shame that in 2008 ANY top 15 rider still has issues like this.

X2.
Especially when there are 85cc amateurs winning 4 lap sprint races that are getting full on factory support.

You're right. However, Alessi went with the supercross only deal. He has a great outdoor bike. If he wears the team boots and gear he gets to ride for free during everyr round of the outdoor season. He doesn't want to do it and would rather pay the $5000 per race out of his own pocket. He's in a better position than the other "privateers".

And they could beat you on that 85 with you on a 450.

Why don't you just read the interview. I'm just stating what Jeff said and it has been said by Tony before as well. I don't really care what you saw at your local race.

The curious of KTM. I believe that BOTH the Alessi's pro careers would have been alot different if they would have stayed w/ Honda.
