Yeah the love heart looking filter on the bottom of the Fuel pump is what clogs up and restrics and eventually stops the flow of fuel, taking that off and cleaning it out should hopefully fix your problem or buying the kit and replacing it, best bet it to buy the kit as you will need to replace the Oring one you take the fuel pump out.

Actually think that is the site I used to work out how to pull the pump apart, and then you tube to work out how to test the fuel pump!

I also suffered from the heavy clutch pull on the CRF, mine was due to the clutch basket chewing out, filled it back twice, never spent the money on replacing the clutch basket, if I had the spare cash I would have.

Best thing i have done to my 2011, which is basicly the same as a 2009, is put a 2005 stock honda 250f clutch cable on it. The bend in the cable is only about 35 degrees compared to stock 450 cable where the bend is more like 90 degrees. You would not believe tje difference in the pull it creates. Like night and day!

DR, YZcrazy219 is the one that told me about this trick and he is not kidding. The clutch pulls like my sons yz125 did. Its almost hard to amagine that such a simple change can make such a huge difference.

Do you route the cable the same was as stock? I believe that is basically the same thing the motion pro t3 clutch cable is doing for this bike except thats $70 for a cable

Forgot, the solution to the clutch issues is a Hinson with 6 springs mimicking the 08 clutch. You get a lighter pull, and more pressure on the plates meaning a longer lasting one (don't ask me how that works). Many people have issues with the clutch getting toasted way to fast.

Some people do and some dont. My sons practice bike had the stock cluth with PC springs in it for about 100 hours and when we took it out it was still good. He is fast but he is also only 125 pounds. My bike has the hinson and it still is hard to pull but a cheap fix is to use a 2005 250 cable. It makes a huge difference and pulls like his yz125 did.

DOH!!!!!!

God damn Doc. If that is true....I feel bad for you. Fwiw.....I rode the 09' and 10' Hondas.....and for the life of me.....I could not get used to the overall feel of the bike. I had a choice when I picked up my Honda....and I got the 08'. I have 3 different friends which sold their 09's and went BACK to the 08's. "Some" people will say that's stupid.......but if a bike don't feel right , it don't feel right. They spent a lot of money on suspensions , links , ect......and still couldn't come to terms with it.

see I never "felt" the 05-08 crf450's myself, but I meshed with the '09+ bikes really well. I tried all the years from 05-08 either being ones I bought or riding some of my friends and while I though they got better with every year, I just didn't feel them. I switched to kawi's in those years, now I am back on hondas and love them. But yeah, I think more people didn't like the 09+ hondas more than people do like them.

Jeffro, How tall are you? It seems like most of the guys that dont like the new bike are taller guys. We got my sons bike from my friend because he hated it. He said that he felt like he was to far over the front of the bike and he was to cramped on it and he is 6,4. My son had two 08s and as soon as he got on the 09 he was like a new rider. He was faster, smoother and just looked much more in control and "at home" on the 09. He is 5,4 120 punds. The only thing he has complaned about since getting the new bike was that it is down on power. He says that its amazing how much more he has to hold the power on compared to his 08 but his 08 had a pipe and was tuned. He says the 09 is a turd as far as the power.Laughing

We've always been big in drag racing, we started out re-valving and switching springs. After many years of constant changes we now always spend the extra money and out a JRI Shock on our bikes. The time saved, and ability to make quick easy adjustments for changing track conditions is WELL worth the money!

I feel like an idiot. Damn... Still, all of a sudden a new 450 might not be such a bad idea at some point... Smile

Hey, you are right, and I don't really know how much a good clutch would change the combined negative feeling I had, and I honestly think the KX250F I chose instead would still rule. But I became faster, put a combo of 70 hours in the US which lead to some progress, and maybe that bike would have suited me better in the end...

Woulda, coulda, shoulda! Laughing
