Whatever happened to Chevy trucks sponsoring Kawasaki. I remember when I was younger (I am 21 now) you were not cool unless you had Chevy truck graphics on your kawi. I never followed the pro level very closely then but I know the sponsor just disappeared. What is the story behind it? If any. Must have been a big loss to this industry being such a big sponsor and all.

I guess the US Gov't (oops I mean Chevy) didn't want to sponsor a SX/MX team anymore...

Yeah something about Chevy going Bankrupt and recieving a few hundred million of the tax payers dollars probably put the sports team sponsorship on hold.... been living under a rock the past few years?

I was part of the crowd who wanted those graphics......and I got them eventually. Unfortunately it didn't help me gain speed and jump from B class to A class....

that was waaaaaaaay before GM's problems..............they were also a sponsor of the whole outdoor series...........from what I understand, about 2nd - 3rd party.............they were a little unsatisfied with the "professionalism" of the sport regarding sponsor commitments and obligations and didn't think they got the treatment they deserved.........what I heard........for sure could be 3 sides to the story!!! HNY all..................

My understanding (perhaps incorrect) of the Chevy series sponsorship deal was that it was not for any real money, but instead for vehicles for the AMA staff at the time.

The unions gutted that company. Union workers got our bailout money and the took the money that would have gone to sponsorship. Go, go, unions.

There is a little issue of the series being sponsored by Toyota Trucks.

I will take the goon look all day, since at that time I was racing on my own dime, and working 3 jobs just to race on the weekends (edit** this was at age 17). To take it even further you cannot see it but the visor is actually taped together with duct tape on the side opposite of the camera lol.

It got the job done, and while I was racing B class no one cared how my goggles and visor looked when I was in front of them Cool

Don't let the couch riders give you a hard time.

You are core in my book.

Duct taped visors and riders with hand-me-down/out of date gear have disappeared, and it is a true loss to our sport.

We are left with whiny kids with their parents credit card and a bunch of fashion critic forum experts.
