Tnx bro, I was a bit butthurt there for a while! Smile

Probably already mentioned, sor sorry if that's the case, but Honda build the lightest OEM wheels on the market, meaning the stock hubs are pretty damn good. My suggestion if you budget has a limit s to find out the color code for that red factory look and powder coat them. I'm sure a company in your neck of the wood can do it for less than $300. Buying two new hubs will cost you close to 1k?

The only problem with painting them is that you ad like 100 grams of paint each Whistling and that you have to take out the bearings!Angry

Or you can polish the stock ones, with one of those alu polish kits you mentioned? That looks pretty sweat as well! Smile

No worries bru.. Yea thats pretty much what im doing.. Im sending my stock hubs to www.fasterusa.com They will turn them down and polish them 1st.. which takes off a couple hundred grams.. then powder coat them transparent jolipop red to get the anodized look..
He quoted me to do all this to the hubs, plus, new spokes, new rims, lace, trued put together $700.. I thought that was an awespme deal.

Sounds awesome! Based on that, I assume it became black in the end, I mean no need to buy new rims otherwise! Smile Which Excel type did you get for that price?

See, there you go making stuff up. You know I'll never sell it, and not just because it's wirth absolutely nothing.Spent way too much making a lightweight out of it. Was building what I thought would be the perfect bike for an old guy who wanted something in between a 125 and 250 2 stroke. Loved how it revved to the moon like a tiddler but damn it just felt so heavy compared to my 125's. Top heavy mostly, so the project began searching out every single part to knock weight off. Then the unthinkable happened. It scattered in grand fashion. $2200,00 later she was back up and running. Had to just be "one of those things", right? So the new CRF250 came and and we gave that one a shot. Within the first year an oiling malfunction melted down the entire crankcase side of the engine. $2400.00 later and I have considered myself done with 250F's. No desire whatsoever for a modern open class bike either so I've never even considered a 450 of any sort. Can't even begin to imagine the shock I'd go into on one of those heavy beasts.

Part it out? Who needs a bunch of overpriced mag., ti, and carbon fo a ten year old bike? It's not even worth anything that way either. Better to just keep it as a reminder of mistakes made. Wink Besides, we have a "decade" class around here that it's now legal for. Fuuny thing, it qualifies for the decade class and yet the current one still runs the same engine. LMAO at the eleven year old new bikes on the showroom floor.Tongue
LOL,ok

Don't re-count my vote!

I just wanted to mention a couple more things. First off...HOLY CRAP!.....tied at like 22 each! that is crazy!

2nd.....I said in my previous posts , that I almost always lean towards the black rims.....90% of the time. BUT....on this paticular bike , because it's a mid-2000 2 stroke , you are going for a "factory" type look , I think it's a no brainer for the silver rims...repeat...ON THIS BIKE.

Jeez......If I was in your shoes.....I would say screw it.....and have two sets of wheels. That way....you can't lose! You'll win every single day depending on which set you wanna run hehe.

WTF Bro? Take a pic of it with the stock rims (some will hold back their contempt) and I can do some photoshopping on that sucker to show the black rim goosebumps effect! Smile

Im sure sum of you have seen these pics.. Im buying complete wheels for it in 2 weeks and for the life of me cant make up my mind on the color of the rims.. I know either way i going with red hubs.. now black or silver rims? What u guys think? help me make a decision!

If you are trying to make this thing look like it should in the 2 stroke era, leave it ALU with the red hubs like Grant's(old) bike. If you are trying to look like a fucking BOSS when you roll that thing out the bike of your lifted F250, Black wheels, mag hubs or Talon (budget considering) and get the seat cover and mud guards off that bike like a prom dress. Done deal, case closed, court is ajourned yer honor. Best advice on hear as well, keep the stockers and make a chrome back up set, with the red hubs like RC's shit, but red hubs on the black rims.........ahhhh, looks like you're trying too hard IMO. Whatever you do, DO NOT put a single digit on the plates, not a 2(MC), not a 4(RC), not a 6(Lammy) and you're pushing it with the 29 or even 22. Use your number and keep it real, unless of course its going on a shelf.

Don't forget the black Renthal sprocket on the rear.

Black.
The black rims look better on some bikes and Honda is definitely one.

Nice ride man.

I will/does look awesome either way. Keep your stockers with a set of practice tires, and build a new set w/ black rims and fresh tires for race day.

Santa just sprayed his skis black, said you better get your **** together and he'll deliver those black rims you NEED.

Now quit jacking around, don some gay apparel, slam absinthe like there's no silver rims tomorrow and let visions of

sugar plum fairies dance in yo head.

" Ask not what you can do for black rims - but what can black rims do for you !"

I threw up in my mouth a little at the suggestion of gold rims, but then the pics were posted to back up the suggestion and I had a full hurl. Someone owes me lunch.

Personally I would go with black, but in this one rare instance where you are trying for the factory Honda look silver would be acceptable. Must have red hubs though, either way.
