Yup, much like the first 1.5 pages of Peelouts tat thread.

Oh yea, and the racing was much better back then too.
No runaways, 20 riders battling for the win until the last corner, every race.
Yea, that's like RC telling me how close the racing was for him outdoors just after MCs dominance in SX for nearly a decade.

Yeah, but DC knows way more about motocross that McGrath ever could. But then again no one owns McGrath.
BULLSHIT........................ DC maybe a lifer and know a lot. He's been involved in every facet of the sport, BUT to say someone couldn't do more or better or better vision of where to lead the sport is just ignorant.

No offense to DC, but he has a lot of interest in the sport. I'm not completely convinced that's good for the sport.

P.S.. I have a feeling that Davey is a really good human though...... Which is way more important the anything moto.

Not sure that had much to do with how many strokes the bikes were.

Cool interview.

I love what he said about JS7, and i agree 100%.
That nobody expected Bubba to win any championships, but due to having the best work ethic of any rider, he was able to become the richest racer ever? Right?

Back in the two stroke days you actually had to be decent to ride tracks ever since 4 strokes it made it easier to ride and that's why all the tracks now days suck and are freeways with tabletops

Wonder where that interview was conducted? I remember back in the 70s when we'd build tracks around old oil field sites with tanks and piping laying there - I assume he wasn't sitting at one of our old tracks out in the woods.

And I appreciate what he said about two strokes, but it ain't gonna happen. And frankly, as much as I love two strokes, the sport has progressed with four strokes - not because they're better but because they're bigger. If they let guys ride 450 two strokes it would progress even more, but if we went back to 250 two strokes for the premier class, riders would be wondering where all the power went. I rode my son's YZ250 and I loved it, but it's not super powerful compared to a 450, and it sure as hell isn't powerful compared to my CR500AF.

The sport has moved in a different direction, but it has defintely not "progressed" in terms of being healthier. Sure there's TV coverage and fans are lining the fences to see the races, but people will watch anything entertaining. What have 4-strokes done on the local scene? How has it benefitted junior riders? How much of a level playing field has it created for the privateer in terms of affordability? Sure the economy has gone sour, but this alone has not been the sole cause of the high costs of racing.

I know, I know, here we go again.

Newmann I think your sarcasm detector needs a once-over with the monkey wrench Smile

Watch the video again, closely. The word "mocking" comes to mind.

Same guy's were behind him too. Reed and Stewie.

A good mechanic never blames his tools.
This has nothing to do with the thread at all, it's not about who can ride 2 or 4 strokes the best but what makes the sport more entertaining to watch overall. The way 4 strokes hook up out of corners with huge amounts of torque and traction is what makes the racing not as good to watch, it's like going back to F1 years ago with all the driving aids which was faster then was humanly possible without them and made watching the cars go around the track whether in qualifying or a race boring to watch. 4 strokes on some of these freeway SX tracks are getting to that stage

What is a barrett anyway? Is it the same thing as sphincter muscle? I didn't know there could be a 2-stroke such a thing.

OK. that does it. I AM wearing a tinfoil hat to the next SX AND I will be breaking out the "Bring back two strokes!" banner again.

Got lots of props for having that banner there two years ago. There was a photo frenzy with it at the afterparty because so many people dont like two strokes any more and didnt want their photo taken with the banner giving thumbs and beers up.

Anyone remember the segment on TV with him riding with the girl who rode flat track. When she was bending over and he's eyeballing her assets good and then turns back towards the camera and smiles. Definetely a cool cat and having fun.

Don't spoil my fun, dammit. Besides, I don't believe he's mocking as much as the 4 stroke brigade would like to think.

If you watch the video closely, it looks like something flew in his mouth right before he said' "Bring back the 2-strokes. . ." I don't think he was mocking, I think that pause was actually a need to cough or something. I'm reviewing it right now.

I think the sound alone makes the racing more fun to watch. Ever hear 40 500cc 2 strokes going into the first turn?
