Why can't Speed, Fuel, etc. do this?

Why can't they stream all the events live online for an annual fee , like the guys do overseas for the GP's? Something like a $39.95 , 17 race live streaming. You still pay the same amount weather you watch 1 race or all 17.

Why the hell is the USA so far behind the times on this shit? Jesus Christ....high schools are streaming live football , volleyball games ect....in HD!

And at making $40.00 a pop......why not do it? They could show the commercials and so forth , just like what they would on live TV. You "would think".....it would be cheaper to broadcast it that way to.

SX Live started charging for the live audio feed and people lost their minds. Result: no live feed at all. IMO, very few "fans" would pay.

GuyB......yeah , didn't know what i was thinking....had my mind on other things. been out of school to long I guess? Tongue

Terry....you are probably right. I know I would pay. I'm not sure exactly which races are being shown on what channel , but since I have comcast here.....I get screwed on all the fuel broadcasts , because Comcast doesn't carry it. Always enjoyed the fuel live streams of the nationals , as they were great to watch while I was on my elliptical trainer. When they are on TV....i'm forced to lay my ass on the couch and do nothing else. I'm not complaining about that though....as they look better on my big ol' TV.

People complained because they took what was once free, lowered the quality and charged. I would gladly pay for a live feed from 1st practice through the post race press conference.

Style tips? Hawaiian shirts never go out of style. Bank on it.

It costs me $17 a month to get the TV package that has Speed in it. I'd be willing to pay much more than $40 to get the whole season live.

I think MXSports has done good things overall for the sport. However, they are jumping on this "Live" broadcasting thing about 10 years too late. They need to open thier eyes and see the way the world is going. EVERYTHING is moving towards online.
I have posted this a couple times on here. Motocross/Supercross's core fan base "the ones the buy the products of the sponsors" are out riding while the pro's are racing. So why bother showing it live on TV. How many people have motorhomes with satelites that can watch it at the track live?

No think about how many people have phones, tablets, or laptops that can have at the track and can watch treaming media.
Smartphones are everywhere. My grandmother has one.

This is a no brainer. Stream the races live online. Not only do you instantly increase your availabilty to your viewer base but now you don't have to use speed/cbs's people. Hire your own production crew. Look at all the great stuff the web and video people produce. Hire people from racerx, transworld, vurb, vitalmx, pulpmx, troy adamitis, MXPTV, and all the other sites and use your own crew. That way you can show more of the actually races and behind the scenes stuff.

Look at netflix and hulu. By streaming movies the almost overnight put video rental stores out of business.
Streaming online is the way of the future why not get ahead of the game.

ok, let me fix a few "thoughts" you all are having by interjecting reality....

First off, things like television and those shows, are NOT moving towards the internet. It has been proven time and time again that the web, in its current form and consumer usage, are NOT viable to draw in mass crowds of casual viewers. If you put something online, only your core people are going to seek it out. You dont go channel surfing random websites to watch an event. Tv, you get casual viewers, "oh whats this, lets watch it a bit". The web, just those looking for that SPECIFIC thing, hopefully, can find it. Thats part of the webs problem, its way too big!

Secondly, internet is not the same for everyone, and seeing as how half this country, in 2012 almost, is in a rural area, ie little or no truly high speed access, then add on top of this that right now the nationwide average bandwidth speed is right at 300kb/sec... and that a true, better than vhs quality video and audio is going to require 600+kb/sec.

Third, guys, there is NO money in it beyond subscriptions from your core fans. (i think this IS overlooked). Above, $39.00 for 17 races. I can literally prove it right now, it can NOT be done for that. literally. For about $10 a round yes, IF all the cameras and cameramen, ect, were free. I ran numbers, and sent them in to Feld, (Im pretty sure to the right person), and proposed selling vitrual seats for online viewers. A single camera panned back just like you were in the stands, audio play by from Weege and Holley, ect, would run at least $10 a round per viewer.

Fourth, SX has content problems... as in between their contract with Speed and CBS and content exclusivity. Its a grey area, streaming a virtual seat, and ANYTHING from the races. Its part Feld, and part tv contract.

And lastly, love it or hate it, reality is, there is no money in the web for something like this. You arent going to get $500,000 for a Toyota commercial in a web feed. You arent going to generate the numbers to make it ROI attractive, you arent going to have 500,000 people watching a SX on the web. Just isnt going to happen. 40~50k I could see. Even if in a fantasy world you got what was on the broadcast streaming, you arent going to generate those kinds of numbers per cast.

MXSports, they wored their deal a bit better imo, and you get first motos. If you sit back and thought it thru, its alot of money to do it on top of the tv show. Servers, bandwidth alone would be more than you guys can imagine.

No, they complained because people think everybody "owes" them something. I GLADLY paid because I'm a realist and I understand that nothing is free.

You know, there are a lot of people who see a rider post something and if it's not spot-on in spelling or punctuation, they'll bust out the, "Home-schooled riders" complaint.

Personally, I happen to think good spelling and punctuation matter. It sure makes things a lot easier to read, and often has a bearing on how much (or little) I should value the opinion of the person posting. Did they spend some time thinking about their post? Or is it just diarrhea of the keyboard after a few beers?

I follow what you're saying, but I think you're forgetting about the 1000s of fans NOT from the US that would be willing to pay good money to see live SX.

Does anyone have any numbers on how many people watched the Nationals on allisports this year?

Or did they just make a simple typo?

Seems pretty lame jumping on someone for an extra space in a sentence - even if they do it in every sentence. That's just putting yourself in the same category as those 'home-school riders' caller-outers.

Internet service here is crap - but I get SPEED on the dish, connected to a big screen. More please.

Just misplaced a couple comma's Steve.....not drinking. Actually haven't had a drink in over 2 months. Not that I drank that much anyways.

Anyways......thanks for your input guys. I had thought that maybe since fuel was doing the live broadcasts of the first few motos and everything was setup they could stream the entire event in conjunction with the live TV web cast.

I'll bet that within the next 3-5 years ( since TV and internet are merging in the future ) that we have an internet based TV package of some sort. I mean , we sorta do now.....i'm just saying I think the TV and internet will be close to the exact same thing.

I don't know.....I just want to see my moto. And live if I can get it. I'm one fan that would gladly pay the fee is all.

That's what a lot of people said about mx-life.tv and look how that worked out. Even the haters wound up watching it and figuring out that for the price the content offered was a killing if you love MX.
