I've been playing it since april of 08 and it's awesome to see how far it's come in gameplay and graphics. A true motocross simulator if you ask me! Fun racing time trials or hopping online and racing 35 other guys on Red Bud 2010!...all on two bangers! haha. The 2011 sx series should be an awesome hit just like the series was last year. Consistent full gates and tight racing, so sick.
Here's a great slide show showing where the game came from, and where it is now. Simply amazing in a few years time, from a single developer and a strong community.

Yes it's a lot better than the demo. You can have more that 2 tracks which you got on the demo, And you can ride something else than only Yamaha.
Plus you can download 3rd party content like new rider and bike model, so the game would look nicer than the demo.
I would simply caution that (as I said in an earlier post) this IS NOT a plug-and-play type game. Don't think that you're going to sit down an start ripping laps within the first couple of hours. It takes a while to learn how to "ride" the bike and set it up. Both are crucial to your success. I'm a good gamer (pretty darn good on Reflex) and I'm just now getting to the point where I can make consistent laps around the easier tracks without crashing, after a month of trying.
It is a tough game to play, but that is the appeal of it to me. Also, the game plays much better with a controller than the keyboard for obvious reasons. An Xbox 360 controller (or copy) works awesome. I would tinker with the demo more before pulling the trigger. I played the demo for a couple of weeks, and lurked over at the MXS forum before I committed to buying the full version.
Don't get me wrong I know the people that were there early on love it, have followed it through it's growing pains and as a result know it inside and out. But for everyone else, or at least for me, it's utterly inaccessible.
You go to download bike skins and then you find they won't work because of x y or z. To find something out you have to basically be a computer expert and read the equivalent of a novel. And even then the game itself is unplayable.
I mean of course it clearly isn't, clearly people CAN play and clearly I'm the one with the problem missing something. But again, unless you're prepared to do endless amounts of reading around on the forums you may as well not bother. Otherwise you LITERALLY cannot complete a lap without falling over 10,000,000 times. That's harder than the real thing.<
When I last played it there also used to be secret bleeding hidden menus everywhere. I mean wtf is that about? lol. Having said that, I bet that if you can get into it and you have 12 hrs a day patience, then it's probably awesome fun. It's obvious some people consider it the bees knees MX game.
Really the only stuff you need right this second to make the game look nice are tracks (which are all in the track part of the forum. Plug and play, literally. And models.
This is a little bit more tricky, but it's not that hard. You'll want the KTM, which you can find on PureMXS or the forums, and the CRF, RM, and YFZ. That's it. The rest of the models aren't updated yet so you might as well stick with the stock ones.
All of it can be found on the forums. Just go 3 pages back in the skins and models and you'll get most everything you need. I'm actually thinking of doing a complete delete of everything in my MXS folder and starting over, because I have so much outdated crap in there.
However I still find the game almost impossible to play.
I find it astonishing that this game has as big a following as it has. Not because it isn't good but because so many people have clearly found a way to play it. That alone is utterly amazing to me in itself.
With the stock tracks I take my time, and I am beginning to get a feel for it. But the custom made SX tracks are just unbelievable. Even managing to negotiate a single triple is an exercise in frustration that is beyond words. How anyone, how ANYONE at all can play this is crazy. I sometimes wonder whether it's some sort of mass elaborate practical joke.
The slightest thing sends me sprawling flat on my face in a heap.
If I think about it, I'll post my settings here this evening after I get home from work. The key initially, is to stabilize the bike. I did this by increasing turning the stability all the way up, increasing the roll damping, as well as steering damping. Granted, by doing this, it makes the bike very rigid and hard to turn. If you haven't done it yet, turn auto-shift off. Find an easy track (Alcrest) and putt around in 1st gear, make it a goal to ride the entire track without crashing. As you get more comfortable, loosen up your stability and roll/steering damping.
MXS is a challenging game to play, no doubt about it, but I am starting to see that it can be done. I'm far from fast, but I'm light-years better than I was two weeks ago.
It is a good game underneath, that's what's so frustrating really, because I can see it is good. I just can't do it.
Spent ages messing around on Anaheim 2011 and I just can't jump into the first rhythm section without instantly messing up. Any kind of lean and the bike completely gets away from me. The only way is to straighten up first but this requires slowing down and then of course I don't have the speed. Catch 22.
Will go back the stock tracks again and try and get those down first.
Thanks again.

If you're a beginner though it is better to train in single-player (or maybe in the 19803 sx-server) until you get the basic rhythm lines down without falling in every second jump and turn. If you jump right into the qualifying/race server, you'll just frustrate yourself and others by being constantly landed on etc.
Just installed this on my work laptop, runs fine. Having alot of fun on Glen Helen on my 350sxf up and down the hills.
Broooooooooaaaap
the track links are under the videos. LA should be out tomorrow night sometime.
you can try and set a top 40 time in either lites or supercross class and race the night show on thursday nights.
i suggest trying 450s for now until lites east.
I don't dab or anything, that's probably the shittest part of the game and getting over the top on the "simulator" part (why isn't there a button for me to grip with my legs, or to tilt the bike over and weight the outside peg) I believe that riding in real life, these things are done automatically without me having to make an effort to do it every corner, so wtf is there a button that i have to press to sit down n shit. If you were going to have a button for every technical thing you can do....
So yeah, i'm just happy with figuring out rythem sections and putting in clean laps, once ive done a couple of laps i'll move onto the next track....biding my time until MUD comes out.
