just having to learn the tracks so fast in the nationals is the problem, but kenny will do well, though it'll be tough!

Wow, a voice of reason in a wilderness of fawning "he's the next goat" fans. Rare.

I don't think Roczen will have it easy in the US.... all riders are at their best lving and racing in their own country and that is expecially true for Americans... and it is certainly a lot different from racing the same guys in the World Championship would be. It will be a big challenge for him.

If he can adapt to the US national tracks with the limited practice schedule and Justin Barcia doesn't knock him down he will be a title contender outdoors.... if he gets through sx unscathed! But so will Baggett, Wilson, Musquin and more. Supercross he should be fast, but he will need to get better starts than he did last year if he wants a title there this year. Musquin could be a more consistent guy in SX for KTM...but Ken is smart and a very fast learner so he could win too.

I have been saying how special this guy is since 2009... ( same for Herlings) nice to see a lot of Americans giving him the respect he deserves. And he is a lot smoother and calculated than some people make him out to be... no where near as wild as a Barcia or Bubba.. he has a bit of Pourcel smooth and intelliegiance in him especially with racing lines... but he can hang it out when he needs to!

That my friends, is a recipe for a championship Smile
Yeah, bike looked so solid going through the whoops and anywhere he wanted to put the bike it went. He looks good, reallly good.

Great video, Donn! Not gonna lie, I wasn't a huge Roczen fan at the beginning of the year, but he's definitely starting to grow on me.

From what I can tell Roczen has no particular problem with simply being in the US and doing well.

The only difference between doing GP's and racing here will be the stiffer competition here. I have no doubt that Roczen will be a top contender in outdoors just like he's already been in SX on his vacation last year. He already knows success, he knows championships, and he seems to enjoy racing and training here.

excellent video.

His ride at the MXoN, impressed my daughter and wife so much that they named our new kitten after him. They have a good track record as our first cat was named Ricky , second cat was Bubs.

We adopted a Boxer during supercross last year. My racer son (7 yo) named him............. BamBam. It also compliments the other boxer named Wilma.

'the only difference between doing gps and racing here will be the stiffer competition here'

what a ridiculous (and totally innaccurate) thing to say!
The tracks, culture etc totally different- race format totally different (shorter races in america, plus no saturday practice/ qualifying- just a short practice and straight into it in a one day event format, rather than 2)- then theres the small matter of a SUPERCROSS season to get through before a (much shorter) outdoor schedule. The fact that they stay in pretty much the same timezone all year round, the hotter (in most parts) weather!!! Track prep is completely different (so the tracks cut up completely different)

As for the 'stiffer' competition- you obviously havent watched much gp racing to come out with something like that!!! I'm sure if you asked any of the american riders that have contested the gp season they would dispute the face that there is no difference doing gps and racing in the ama!!!!

Kens got a really bright future ahead of him, I just hope him and marvin can stay in one peice next season and show everyone in the states what theyre capable of- they are both great riders, and should be contenders indoors, and outdoors. there will be alot of orange on the podium next year!

Please do not try and make a comparison in the level of competition between the AMA and GPs in the 250f class. The GPs were a 2-man show in 2011, and really no one was a match for Roczen. Herlings took a few, but it was pretty much Roczen's to lose. The AMA 250f class has 5 more guys (maybe more?) that can run that front runner pace. I agree that both Roczen and Musquin will be very strong players this year. My only point is that the 250f GP class is nowhere near as deep as the AMA 250f class. Just from the standpoint that the last 2 GP title holders will be in the AMA this year, points to that fact.

Herlings was closer to Roczen for the MX2 title, than Baggett or Rattray was to Wilson for the Lites title...
