First timer. Flying in from Buffalo. Any info would be appreciated.
Which Airport?
Decent Hotels within walking distance of the Track?
Rider/Industry Hotel?
Best Seating....Right Field?
Parties?
Any other tips?

Thanks

I usually fly in to Orange County (SNA), but not this year. LAX might be much cheaper and have more flights available, especially coming from cross country.

I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, very nice. Not really within walking distance. Not a ton of riders stay at hotels for this race, they stay at home. There is a club just outside of the hotel, so either join the party or get a room on the other side of the hotel--very noisy.

Can't help with seating--I always sit in the same crappy seats. LOL

LAX isn't that far away maybe an hour,

Seating is usually pretty good both times I went was good anyway.

Make sure you go watch practice to get your moneys worth, cool to see the guys ride in the sunshine and be able to move about the stadium to watch from different areas and see the different sections of the track close up.

Have fun...A1 will be awesome!

this is my personal opinion.. i actually live in cali but i would say fly to LAX which will prob be cheaper and its not to far away from Anaheim, about the hotels i dont really know but i know theres a bunch of them around (they could always just get a cab) as for the seating once i got the most expensive seats which were all the way down and i hated them! i rather be on top and see the whole track instead of just a lil section.. but thats just me.

hope it helps!

Pay to sit in club level seats (mid level). They are more expensive, but the club seats are not filled with SoCal bro and ho drunken douchebags and it's the best view. The cheap seats up top attract a majority of drunks. And the lower level field seating does not offer very good views. I live in SoCal and been to Anaheim SX many years, I'll gladly pay for club seating just for the fact that it's the best view and the class of people is usually much better. Just my opinion....

Check out Long Beach as an alternate airport (Jet Blue). SNA is an easy airport and a stone's throw from the venue (AA and Continental primarily). If you haven't traversed Southern California freeways, be forewarned...... You need to hunt down a Wahoo's and try the fish tacos. End of day, there is nothing quite like A1. Fresh year, fresh gear, and everybody healthy.

Thanks for the replies. Ticketmaster doesn't list the Club Level seating as an option. Does Angel Stadium box office sell those direct?

Never mind...I found it listed separately.

The best seating is right under private rooms next to the big triple! I believe the tickets are $70ish

Mr.Loope I know southwest lets you have like 2 checked bags for free per person. That should be enough to fit me in there. I went to Cali in March flew into LAX and that was pretty close to the arena.

We might have to give it a better go this year. The last few years have been slipping.

That's a good idea Jeff. I need to pack myself in one of those bags also.

Check Ontario Airport , it's only about 30mins away and no traffic.

Here's how we've been doing it for years..

Get to the stadium around 10:30-11. They let you park closer the earlier your there. Throw the football or frisbee around in parking lot for a while. You would be surprised how many pro mxers can't throw a football. kinda funny..

Drink some rum and cokes or some Vodka Rockstars in the parking lot. keep it low profile.

There is always "sights" to see at A-1 parking lot.

Enter stadium when it opens at 12.
Head straight to pits while checking the track out.
Play in the pits for about 2 hours.

Back to stadium to watch practice, open seating for practice. Try and make your way into the riders sections, it's clearly marked with paper duct taped to a hand rail. Some riders come up and sit there before their practices. Practice usually ends about 5:30. Leave the stadium to go back to truck. Sometimes we bbq, other times fast food. Drink some more and watch more parking lot adventures. Plenty of fast food places withen walking distance of the stadium. Food is cheaper outside the stadium. They just do track prep till opening cermonies, so your not going to miss anything.

Make our way back into the stadium about 20 mins before opening cermonies. Watch the races.

After its over, were back to the parking lot to watch how many females trip from being drunk and wearing really bad shoes. Have another beer or two, and wait for traffic out of the parking lot to clear.

Right field seats are not that good. Like others have said, club seating along the first base or third base side is best. Try for first base side though, it's closer to the pits and closer to the re-entry gate.

Print out the practice schedule so your not to miss the "A" practices.

hello djl52/the best seats are on the first level under the second level overhang because you can see the whole track and it rains most off the time and you cant get hit by stuff falling from the upper level.they are also having more sobriety checks after the races again this year on one of the main exits again so dont drink and drive, the best and closets airports to anaheim staduim is john wayne airport or us ontario airport.never use lax airport its to far and you land in the worst trip to anaheim staduim.i live in orange county but work in riverside.we have season tickets to the angels so trust me when i say field level under the overhang,it rains alot in january so if i was you i would go to the second one at anaheim.good luck/dolemite rpd rules.

I flew into Ontario last year. It wasn't a bad cab ride to by the stadium.

We stayed at this hotel:
Ayres Hotel Anaheim
2550 East Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92806
(714) 634-2106   (800) 595-5692 ‎

I walked multiple times back and forth from the stadium. It was fun passing all the lifted trucks stuck in traffic on the way out on foot.

Hotel was good, nothing crazy but definitely not roached out.

Airport - LAX, Ontario, or John Wayne. LAX is usually the cheapest and it's only about 35 or 40 minutes from Anaheim. Ontario isn't very far either. John Wayne is the local airport, but is usually more expensive.

Hotels - Most of the hotels in the area are pretty decent. Even hotels that would normally be so-so are usually decent and you can usually get "last minute" deals on Travelocity.com. I've gotten decent hotels a week or so before the race at a reasonable price. You'll probably have to cab it or drive to the race, unless you really like to walk.

Rider/Industry Hotel - From what I can tell nowhere specific. I stayed at the Holiday Inn, on Manchester I believe, and DV and his wife were staying there and I saw Bevo and a few other industry people as I was coming and going. Moto is all over the place if you look closely.

Best Seating ing - I like to sit lower because you can really see how hard the guys are riding and what is really going on. It's just personal preference.

Partiesties - D&B's, but it's not as "structured" as it use to be. Maybe there will be a set time and meeting place this year. If you're just looking to kick it there is a night club at the Shops at Disney (I guess that's the name) on Katella (sp?). If you like Asian chicks you're in luck. Fine Asian chicks Smile .

Just hang out and have fun. It's way different than any other SX from what I can tell. Just the feel of the event. I may make it out myself this year!

Slipping, is right. All it would take would be a specific time and meeting place instead of the lately tag line of "D&B's on Friday."

I stayed there one time. Decent hotel. Kind of a victorian feel to it.

The DoubleTree Hotel is close enough to the stadium to walk. Its in the same parking lot as Dave and Busters and alot of riders stay there. Plus after Dave and Busters ends alot of people end up in the bar there. Hung out with Jeff Alessi at the bar a few years ago. He wasnt drinking, just eating all the nuts on peoples tables and making fun of his brother. Good times. See you all there this year.

Fly into LAX or Ontario. Both are cheaper on any given day.

Best seating I've found is usually upper portion of field level seats on either left or right field. Make sure they're the upper portion, that way you're covered by the canopy in the chance it could rain. And your close to the track, just higher up. If you go too far down in the section you only see the side of the jump that's directly in front of you.

Hope this helps,
Austin

Slipping? Flat out lame.

I had a beer with DV and Genova and spoke with Stone for a while but left after that. I figured there would be a lot more people.

A1 '10 at D & B had TWO meetings. The "correct time" and one hour later. Some who promised never showed (Checkerz) and there were definite surprises!

Here is the second session:
