I noticed in one of Stewarts JGR interviews they asked him about his trial at starting his own race team last year he said it was to much stress and continued to say something along the line of it wasn't like chad reed where everything came from major sponsors. Reed then tweeted that it is amazing how much you learn about someone and he loves the 2 newest press conferences.

also, reed didn't have much in the way of help from Honda until he was consistently at the front and had a shot at the title.

so what major sponsors? Bel-Ray and Shift?

Peelout gets it. Although, we shouldn't hang on every word that the riders spew. They should of course be more careful about what they say but the fact remains that we shouldn't try to dissect every word that comes out of their mouths.

Not to mention James had San Manuel and I bet they shelled out way more than Chad's sponsors combined. Chad's paydays came in the form of win bonuses and new contracts this year (and any insurance policies he took out on his performance). Sometimes James would be wise to zip it.

When I read that I thought for sure it was about Stewge claiming MC's win record, like Reed, RV, TC and Dungey might just have "something" to say it about it.

Wow, seems like you are reaching on that one. First off he said press releases, not press conferences, and he could have been talking about all kinds of different things and not necessarily anything negative.

The extra help from Honda came way late. Who knows what would have happened if it had gotten there sooner.

i wasnt completely paying attention, but i thought he made it sound more like he (james) didnt have as hard of a time as reed did with getting sponsors and the team setup. as in he was saying reed had more stress. why would reed get offended about that?
maybe i need to watch that again.

From what I got out of it.......Reed built his team, his sponsors, his personnel, his choices.

It appears that Stewart inherited an established team complete with sponsors and personnel. He was the rider of an established team that seemed to be falling apart. So maybe he, and with the help of Red Bull, helped keep the team going. Hence the added stress, as he just signed onto the team to just be the rider.

That's my take....I don't think Reed should have a problem with that.

I am too lazy to check but I thought I remember in the video he said "it wasn't like how reed brought in new major sponsors." Stating that his team stayed with the same old sponsers and didn't gain any new ones like chad.....

taking the piss can be showing someone you don't agree with what they said with humour, cheek and a smidge smartarsery something that Reed is proficient in..

that was my interpretation too. As in, he sort of walked into a situation as opposed to creating it himself. Made things difficult. He didn't hire Brooks, but he Fired him. A strange dynamic that made it hard to focus on racing. As hard as it was for Reed to run his own team, he got to build it up his way and control everything. Everything was well defined. Maybe with L&M/JSE thiings weren't always so clear? I don't know, that's how I understood it. But what do I know?
