Which oem gained the most credibility with this off-season? KTM by hiring former Suzuki rider Ryan Dungey or Yamaha by retaining James Stewart?
Both riders are capable of winning championships and both riders could argue their machines kept them from championships in 2011.

KTM ALL the way...
Yup. You don't gain by retaining.

Neither. Credibility is earned on the track with race results.

Really, all James did was sign a 2-year extension to ride Yamaha's (as he was originally already under contract with them for 2012).

Hence, you'll know in January.

My money's on the JGR/JS7/FMF combo.

Ask this question in May and/or September.

I would say that JGR and KTM with Roger have an equal amount of cred.

Without a doubt: KTM.

Yamaha didn't gain any, they lost & JGR gained more than they had. JS Quote: "When I saw their Yamaha compared to mine, I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? They haven’t won a championship yet?’ Let me come over and help these guys out.”

So Stewart is saying JGR's bike blows away his factory Yamaha. It's not the bike, it's what JGR is doing with it.

Why was he on a semi-pro team then? Wasn't he just about the hottest property when he signed with L&M? It's amazing that the L&M team is now considered a team of numbskulls because James couldn't win with them over the last few years. I think they have 2 SX titles with 2 different riders after being in existence for how many years? 6? 5? Honda has zero over the same time period.

I would say if Josh Grant, Brayton and Milsaps results were better I would believe it was that good... but I think they are coming along to be a force.

I agree. If the bike is that much better, I expect James will be a few seconds a lap faster this year?

He said in 1 of these videos that there really wasn't much choice out there when Kawi dropped him

L&M had a great salesmen.

L&M's bike put Reed on his head and could never get a good setup outdoor for him the couple races they did. Same for Stewart. Both riders have exactly how many good things to say about the team?

IT's hard to say...

If the Factory supported LM Yamaha isn't as good as what JGR is making... IF that is true, then Yamaha look like Mugs...

KTM is doing what they have been doing in Europe for years, just stacking the decks... you'd have to think they are looking at Dungey with KR and MM in the 450s in a couple of years...

Well, not for umpteen million per year for SX only........ I love too that Kawasaki "dropped" him. He claims they never even made an offer. Right. We all agree that he has said the Kawasaki sucked many times over, correct? But he was really really wanting to be there?

Another guy that won a title with them in spite of their ineptness. If you want to go that route with Reed, he sucked on a factory Kawasaki. Was that the team being inept? The same team that dominated a year later with RV? He bad-mouthed them too after leaving (mid contract!). Is there a pattern here?

All the Stew-fans can keep hyping this up pre-SX 2012. JGR is a great team, no question, but L&M is the reason James finished 4th last year? Not buying it. JGR will be the reason he wins titles again? Not buying it.

Carmichael said that Kawasaki never made him an offer either. You call BS on that one too?

It's a vicious cycle. Kawasaki knew they had Stewart coming up, so they didn't want to pay Ricky. In Stewart's case, they had Villopoto coming, so they didn't make James an offer. Smart business really, and it paid off both times.

As far as the SX only thing, didn't he say that was how the L&M contract was, and that he didn't have a choice?

The same drama filled team that tried to ruin a relationship with Mitch and had to fire it's team manager after said domination at Kawasaki? A good team manager dosen't let all the behind the scene drama happen. Something LB and Fisher in my opinion didn't do a good job at.

I don't know about SX & MX. Albrecht said that Stewart does not have to race the nationals if he does not want to.

I expect him to. Sounds kind of like the deal Reed got when he left L&M.

He was on a Sx only team that couldn't even set the bike up for SX, let alone the outdoors. I feel that he had to do what Reed did after L&M and save face with the fans.
