What I don't understand is, if the 4 stroke technology is so superior and is so much more rideable, then why would anyone care if a 250 2 stroke raced a 250 4 stroke? Certainly everyone would want the best technology and therefore choose based on need. So, IMO, it makes the pro 4 stroke argument moot. If it is such a huge issue, then obviously 4 strokes must not be that superior. You can't have it both ways.
for a bike to be 12hp less than the ALL-MIGHTY as most of you think 2 STROKEPOS. Says alot about the 4 stroke. I mean hell, even at the places where they allow cc vs cc. Most people are switching for the advantage that they "THINK" they have because of more HP, only to STILL have their asses handed to them by an underpowered 4 stroke.

As has been stated by magazines such as mxa and dirt action plus people like roger decoster they both have advantages and disadvantages and they are so close in actual lap times that it comes down to the rider. if a rider can handle the extra 12 hp they have an advantage on a track that allows that power to be put to the ground. 2 strokes make more power but the 4 strokes put theirs to the ground better. it comes down to the rider.

i blame it all the the hormones they give the cows. its causing kids sacks to not drop. you've got all these kids with a Beiber hair-do, gnawing on a leatt brace and thats why they cant handle anything with a mid range snap like a YZ250 with a hogged out cylinder and a pipe.

i seriously feel so bad for the current crowd of young MX guys. they dont even have a clue how good it was in the early 90s. terrafirma on VHS, RM buck-&quarter in the garage, art eckman and david bailey in the booth

shit was BAR TO BAR
I find myself not ever getting to post because you say exactly what I would first. I'm 35, I'm guessing you're close to that. On a side note. I have a 125 250(smoker) and a 450. Sinse I built my 03 YZ250, the 450 has been ridden twice in 2 years. Brought back the fun for me. I even won a Vet A race on it.

Thank you MX7MX, couldn't have said it better myself. They are 2 stroke POS's, dead, and still get their asses handed to them by the underpowered 4 stroke. So again, thank you MX7MX. You asked the question for me. What's the problem with having cc vs cc then??? You hit the nail on the head, showing everyone that even the 4 stroke sided see how the 4 stroke will still win. So let them race....

Eventually the right thing usually happens. In this case it is finally reaching critical mass and the scales are beginning to tip the way of the two stroke. Not to say that the two stroke should kill off the four stroke, just that we should be able to race either and have the choice. Not rules that make you choose one or the other.

This could lead to another problem. If the scales do indeed tip and the OEMs see a market for the 2stroke once again they're liable to start pouring tons of money back into R&D and we end up with $8500 2strokes which kinda defeats the idea of the cheap 2 stroke..

And then people won't buy them either. From another thread:

http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Manufacturers-commitment-…

Couple dozen different cruisers in every color of the rainbow, crotch rockets from entry level to unreal, naked and dressed. Scooters, yep we've got them too from 50cc up to 650cc in eighty different colors with flower accessory kits in the parts department. More four wheelers than you could possibly name and side by side utility vehicles out the ass with turbochargers and $2000.00 LED lightbars in stock in the parts department too!! Motocross? Uh, well we have three choices....

It's pretty damned obvious that the Japanese OEM's don't care much about "us".

A 250 lb. stripped down bare bones single cylinder kick start motocross bike sells for $8300.00 while a 800 lb, mag wheeled, custom pinstriped candy apple blue clearcoated, chromed out 900cc V Twin, shaft drive, electric start, guage packed, fully lighted and fully wired, battery equipped sport cruiser sells for.......$8290.00. You've gotta be f'ing kidding me?
