YOSHIMURA RACING AND AMERICAN SUZUKI ANNOUNCE PLANS FOR THE 2012 SUPERCROSS AND MOTOCROSS SEASONS
CHINO, CA (October 12, 2011) – Yoshimura Racing and American Suzuki Motor Corporation are proud to announce plans for the upcoming supercross and motocross seasons. For 2012, Team Yoshimura Suzuki Racing will be aggressively campaigning the championship winning Yoshimura-prepared Suzuki RM-Z450 in the 2012 AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross series’.
Yoshimura Racing and American Suzuki together have built a long history of dominating US racing in AMA Superbike and now AMA Supercross and Motocross. Yoshimura has led the factory Suzuki Superbike team to claim 10 of the last 13 AMA Superbike Championships as well as the sweep of the 2010 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships. While Suzuki’s factory supercross and motocross team has been based at the Yoshimura race shop in Chino, CA for over seven years, the team is now fully operational under the direction of Yoshimura with the continued full factory support from Suzuki.
“We’re really excited to get going on this 2012 season,” said team manager, Mike Webb. “Suzuki’s championship-winning DNA and their full factory support combined with Yoshimura’s unrivaled expertise in racing is kind of like the perfect storm. Yoshimura has offered great support to this team over the last couple years, which has led to great success for this program. I only see it getting better going forward with this new organizational structure. We’ve been very strong over the last several years but I believe we’ll be even stronger now as we’re in a better position to focus on racing, promoting our sponsors and promoting the sport.”
As previously announced, at this time plans for the 2012 campaign include returning Suzuki rider, Brett Metcalfe (Metty). The 27-year-old Australian joined Suzuki at the beginning of the 2011 season with solid credentials and has demonstrated strength, determination and the ability to win aboard the Suzuki RM-Z. Although injuries shortened his 2011 supercross season, Metcalfe has shown his ability during the current motocross season, scoring an overall win, as well as two podiums and three top-five finishes. Metcalfe finished the season a solid fourth in points in the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross series.
“We’re extremely happy to have Brett as part of our team for 2012,” added Webb. “Metty has shown he has the stuff to win and is a great ambassador for the sport and a quality representative for Yoshimura and Suzuki. In addition to Metty, we’re also actively pursuing a second rider, which would really help round out our team. We definitely have a lot to look forward to in 2012.”
Team Yoshimura Suzuki Racing’s season kicks off Saturday, January 7th, at the first round of the 2012 AMA/FIM Supercross Championship at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA.

Will be a good team, though.
Coy said it the other night on Pulp.
Don't know if two different colors are do-able under their tent....but one wouldn't think so.
Toyota/Yamaha & Suzuki would conflict one would imagine.
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Then, If Rockstar did do the 22 thing, does that give Chad enough $$$ to grab his second rider too?
Crazy, crazy stuff this year.
S
Coy said he drove 9 hours on Monday down to Florida.
I believe they were testing Tues & Weds....
I dont think anything was signed yet thought.
Early last summer late spring it was rumored that L&M was going to be on Suzukis in 2012.
Everyone said that James was riding a Suzuki....the L&M team fell a part (San Manuel pulled out),everyone went their separate ways.
(I know James had a personal contract with Yamaha-have no clue what happened there and how Suzuki came into the picture - all I know is the rumors I stated)
Once the season was up and everyone was able to negotiate....
I think JGR tinkered around with some deals that were on the table with more then one manufacturer.
In the end, they decided to go with Yamaha again.
There was prolly talk with James far before that.
James rode the JGR bike before I believe and liked it.
Coy went down there this week/Monday because he wanted to test on it more.
I think they want him very bad...
Just a guess but, they probably may have more to offer him then Factory Suzuki.
Probably not good news for all the naysayers who said otherwise.
He has been riding a Suzuki for weeks and loves the bike but they cant afford to pay much, enter JGR on a Yamaha that works a little better than his did, and negotiations are ongoing between the two teams.
looks like his actual value to race teams has droped way down, and nobody wanted him for 2012.....kind like where pourcel was last year.......
i guess he lost big time with his team deals .......and just to see everybody going racing anyways and he is the one left out with nothing........
bilding up a race team at that level takes a few very good people to commit to it.......can't see it done by that clown sorby and all others james carrys around........
so jgr/yamaha must be the best he can get now, specially when everybody knows he will blame the bike and team everytime he drops it.......
Pit Row
I would guess that the Factory Suzuki deal only happens if Red Bull (or another sponsor) kicks in some money and comes on board the team as a sponsor.
The JGR deal...they could be talking with James and also to Red Bull about coming on board also....who knows.
Muscle Milk is gone from JGR.
JGR is still a fairly new team...but they seem to be pretty advanced and they may be able to get him where he needs to be bike setup wise. Two guys are also there that he worked well with in past in his Kawi days ,their old engine builder & also his old wrench.
and even that one might not be for long
like in the gps they droped everyone since ktm started to be a winning force......they might have a few athelets outside ktm, but only ktm is a sponsored team......
i guess this has something to do with austrian goverment, some deal was made a few years ago to help ktm....can't be exact but i remember reading about this........
I like the hell our of Metcalfe but they need another rider under the tent. To just go out all year with one dude to me would be the writing on the wall that they will pull out much like Yamaha did. I hope that Bubba goes to Yosh Suzuki, to me it is 10x better bike than that Yamaturd. Hell, I would choose KTM over Yamaha any day.....
If bubbles doesn't end up on Suzuki then it will be very interesting to see who they pick up as a #2 rider.....
is this a 1 rider Team or is Metty the only confirmed rider ? also is this the 250F effort too or is that another Team ?
Any news of a Team is good, lots of people need Jobs.
