Yes, enjoy that up into the stands portion of the track because my guess is that we won't see it again after this race. A buddy of mine is designing and building the decking to go over the seats and he said the cost is going to be astronomical for what you actually get out of it. I hope it is a success. I look forawrd to going to this race.
If your buddy and whoever is paying for the up in the stands decking is clever they would buid something reuseable.

I'm more excited about watching RC race again than anything else. I think he could still surprise a few people.

The only racing RC will be doing that night ....is racing to correct Ralph's mistakes on the live broadcast. Smile
I honestly thought he was racing. Back when they were talking about the event I remember something about him and McGrath both racing.

Man, maybe I'm just getting old Unsure

Everyone bitches that there was no racing after the last national when they dumped the US Open and now that they have invested a shit ton of money to create a new different style of event all you ass clowns continue to bitch. It is so expensive to get a new event off the ground and gain traction not only with the riders and teams but also with the public. Give it a chance before tearing it apart. Hell, be happy there will be moto on TV.

I got my money on Red Arrow- he's really smooth on this type of layout. And he's hungry after getting owned by Villopoto this year.

Was there an earthquake in Atlanta today?

Just kidding man.
Other than my skinny body hitting the dirt on the mx track yesterday? nope! Not my video, just found it and wanted to repost since it showed more of the track. I'm a chicka, too.

Not sure if you understand how this works but Feld hires my buddies company to make their vision into reality, he gives them options of how to do it in the most cost effective and safest way possible. Feld (the promoter of MEC) then hires his company and pays for the cost of the job (not him). The decking is all reusable it's heavy duty concert stage decking. The real cost comes with the amount of crew needed to construct this section of the track(ie: hundreds of man hours(labor) workers comp insurance on that labor, hotel rooms for the crews, per diem for the crew, equipment to construct, loading and shipping of the staging , design, engineering, safety inspections and local codes to meet etc.. the list goes on) From knowing a little bit about how this stuff goes down I'm guessing that the pontiacesque lane into the stands will cost Feld roughly $100,000 all said and done(just that section of the track) including the extra time for the dirtwurx boys to carefully place dirt on top of it (and remove it after the show is over) not to mention lost seating as well. This is the reason I'm saying to enjoy the section because when the final accounting is done on this show it most likely will be deemed financially not feasible to do more of these into the stands sections (I hope not but..) I am stoked that we have guys like Dave Prater and Todd Jendro at the helm of SX because these guys are first and foremost huge moto fans and enthusiasts of the sport. They are running a business obviously but it's cool that they have a true passion for our sport also and are doing their part to innovate to keep it exciting and going at this level. Instead of bitching about the lame track rendition go buy a ticket and watch it live and I guarantee whoever makes it there live will get their money's worth. See you all there Smile
