The inevitable fight in this thread will be "life" and when life begins. A one week old fetus cannot survive outside of the host regardless of all that medicine and science has to offer, therefore it is a part of the host and not individual "life."
Again, abortion is not the path my wife or I would take, but that's none of the government's business.
My wife had one 18 years ago, not a day goes by she doesnt feel either remorse or guilt. Its a little easier for the man, but even then its sometimes hard not to think about it

I'm not absolutely against abortion under all circumstances - there are situations where it may be right to abort. But I'm against this easy going culture we have now where abortion is almost seen as "no big deal". Get pregnant multiple times and then abort as if it's nothing, just because it suits a lifestyle. I'm against that.
Emotive subject for sure. 20 - 30.

"United States: In 2003, from data collected in those areas that sufficiently reported gestational age, it was found that 6.2% of abortions were conducted from 13 to 15 weeks, 4.2% from 16 to 20 weeks, and 1.4% at or after 21 weeks.[12] Because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's annual study on abortion statistics does not calculate the exact gestational age for abortions performed past the 20th week, there are no precise data for the number of abortions performed after viability.[12] In 1997, the Guttmacher Institute estimated the number of abortions in the U.S. past 24 weeks to be 0.08%, or approximately 1,032 per year"

but the bigger picture is, that if its something that keeps you up at nite, youre not seeing the forest from the trees. there are much bigger atrocities going on in the world.
the same people who are against abortion for the sake of "life" as if it is something sacred, are the same bible thumpers who are ok with religious crusades (past and present) where many innocent people die.
i really dont care what people believe. just so long as is there is some continuity or consistency in their stances. at that point is when we can begin to discuss a issue, until then, its just asinine. "life" and ones value of it, cannot be conditional.
for those who are against abortion.....i'd love to hear what there stance on the food industry is, in particular, the torturous and down right inhumane way in which we raise pigs for food. no consistency in logic. but truly, i believe these debates are meant to be set up this way. where leftist and rightist idealisms are never consistent and always meant to be in contradictory/conflict with themselves. its the perfect form of "divide and conquer" of the masses in a supposed republic. ingenious really.
a lot of this discussion, at its root, comes down to the definition of "life" and the "freedom to choose". i think many of us are misguided as to just how much "free will" we, as humans, actually have. when you factor in genetics and living conditions outside of a persons control, and look at the entire body of work of a human being......it is fairly obvious we have much less control over our "lives" than we think. we are no less instinctual and impulse driven than any other animal on this planet. food for thought.
this discussion, no matter how rational and objective we try to keep it, is very deep and messy.

BUT...
We want to tell you who you can and can't marry
We want to tell women what to do with their bodies
We want to tell you how you can and can't die
We want to tell you how you can and can't get fucked up drunk/high
We want to pass a law to tell you what language you have to speak
and if i had the time and energy...........im sure i could make one of those to show some blatant leftist contradictions as well.
(and for the record, im not left or right)
I guess that blob inside you that has a heart beat and a functional brain would say the same thing huh? Is it the babies fault that its parents are to stupid to pullout?
