try 2 hr hare scramble on a flat with a moto track incorporated. Ain't hard. As long as the wheel doesn't come off the bead like that, then you are okay.

If you force the tire on when your doing a moose you can break the bead. You can see where the bead is broke in that pic so as soon as your start riding fast the tire blows off the bead. Bummer for sure we didn't get to see that battle

LeBig has an interview with Vincent Béréni who is described as a former Pro Circuit mechanic. He's had the opportunity to work on both sides of the pond. According to him, in Europe they shave the side and top of the foam to have the tire get better traction. But the downside is that if you land a big jump on the flat the tire can pop off.
The US team brings its own Dunlop tech. and they don't shape the foam.

Too bad they weren't these:

Tubliss Tires

Even if you get a flat, the tube stays on the rim. It can't have any more sidewall stiffness than a mousse does.

How close was he to the mechanic's area? Do the mechanics have spare wheels in the signaling area like they do at U.S. nationals? A good mechanic can change a wheel in less than 30 seconds.

Sacrebleu!

Damn I have bib mouse inserts and love them, they are great in Baja and any enduro ( and MX) as you can pound the cactus and the rocks.

Now I understand why CP tossed the bike to the ground!!

The MX gods were not with the French Team this yearSad

Rooster, one of my sponsors is TuBliss. they work wonders and I have zero complaints. problem with the mouuse foam is it makes your rear wheel skate around a ton, but you're guaranteed no flat.

Same thing happened to Nagl at the GP in Gaildorf Germany two weeks before. Other than these two instances I have not heard about that happening in MX. It was a bummer for Pourcel, that's for sure.

You have to stay on a track and then get to the pits and that means he had to ride up on those steep hills. there is no way you can ride up the hill on a rim. If he went straight to the pits he would be DQ.

Wasn't he at the top of the hill in the double double double double double etc, section when this happened?

So? Does that mean the track goes only downhill from there? Looks like there will never be enough proof that he was screwed. If anybody came here and said that he could ride it to the pits then half of the people here would agree with him immediately and it`s not because he could ride it, but because people want to find something where Pourcel is to blame. It`s that simple.

I don't know but that tire looked pretty bad when he limped off. Bummer because that race was going to get real interesting when that happened. I'd like to have seen them race.

That was just an excuse according to most posts.

It would be cool if the tech side of the teams was available to the public like F1. Did all the teams run mouse? Funny how pro moto tech is top secret when a multi billion dollar sport like F1 puts it out there with pride.

I could be wrong, but yes I believe the track goes only downhill from there to the mechanics area.
