I bought a 198? YZ60 for 600$. It looks great cosmetically, just needs put back together it comes with new piston, rings, all that good stuff to rebuild it. I dont really know how to rebuild it, and I was wondering if anyone on here would want to buy it or should I try to rebuild it? I know ill need a ring compressor, my step dad is a certified GM mechanic and could help me, but Im thinking I might get rid of it for a 125 project. If you are interested in purchasing this bike or leaving an opinion post on my thread or PM me on here.

Cool bike and not something you'll see too often. The 60 was only produced for 3 years. If its got the oval shaped number plates, its an '81. If they are square, its an '82 or '83. I've been slowly restoring my '81 YZ60 (my first bike) over the years, but haven't really put it at the top of the priority list.

Dude,
You were born with ten ring compressors attatched to your hands.
It don't get no easier than that. Have at it. All bikes are worth restoring

My unrestored 81 YZ60. Couldn't find a piston and someone said use one for a KX60. Worked like a charm. Just had to copy the cutaway on the back of the new piston with a dremel tool.

if you are starting your resto project with a ring compresor as your main equipment ,I say no its not restoring.
Be careful on those little bikes
They can put you on your head quickly. They have a bite to them
