I was watching local new tonight and they covered a story titled "crashes at motocross event." The news anchor went on to say....two local motocross racers were recovering in the hospital after separate crashes. A 15 yr old boy crashed during a race this afternoon and an 11 yr old boy crashed just about a half hour later. both are expected to recover, both officials at the track and the parents whose kids raced this weekend say motocross can be a dangerous sport but they say many precautions are taken to minimize the risks. that includes offering extensive training and safety equipment similar to that of a race car driver.
Barnes (announcer at Washougal MX park) came on and started talking about how the track takes every precaution, safety is of the utmost importance, they have trained medical staff on hand, and there is a misconception out there that we do this in a reckless environment, we race in a controlled environment, and take every opportunity to make sure riders are safe.
the TV news guys went on to say.....the track promoters said there were 700 racers competing over the 4 day event and less that a half of a percent were injured.
I thought this was very weird...local news covering two crashes involving a 15 and 11 year old at the Washougal MX park....never saw that before and never would have expected it. I tried finding a link at their website for the story but they didn’t have anything on there yet.

More people get injured & even seriously injured right up the road at Dugan Falls & in the foothills all summer long then people that get hurt at the track. Why don't they do a story about that instead? And dont even get me started on traffic accidents & fatalities on Washougal River RD & SR14 up that way.
Friggin media lol.
Just a bunch of drownings & fires.
Yes, we have injuries in motocross, but most of them are just slightly more serious than the kind of injuries kids in football and baseball get, and we do have an interest in a safe environment, EMTs on site and fairly good (and improving) safety equipment.
Yes, the cheating was terrible.
Hey Jeffro, you must be talking about Susan Hansen, they women is a fucking kook. I was at a hearing to support the opening of Timber Ridge in Mollala. She pulled up all these out lawsuits against washougal and all this old crap. Susan is a fucking nutcase BLOWHARD if I've ever seen.
I've met her and she is completely off her rocker.
