If you so, man you do great work! If not then you still do great work... Fuggin CR is baddd!
MXant15 were you thinking of this? it's my friend Dustin's bike, but it's not an '03. I think its a '08 YZ 125 or so, but he did do custom Windam era ('97?) factory replica graphics. Bitchen bike for sure!

That looks sweet! Prob quite a bit quicker than the CR. I have a 53 on there right now but most likely going to put a 52 so it pulls a little longer.

Man there are some bad ass bikes in this thread!

I wanna do a makeover of an 01 YZ 125 someday, still my favorite bike ever and I've owned quite a few!

You MUST go up one, or even two teeth on the rear!! Moto814 built me a 134cc CR that I was initially very disappointed in (also had Vforce and PC pipe), but with the gearing change, it's now my favorite 125 over my 06 YZ125. It makes a tad more HP than the stock YZ, and does so with a bit more narrow power band, but gottdamm....I'll take the Honda handling anyday over the YZ. Oh...one other change was putting Showa forks on it instead of the stock KYB"s.

Anyone that shows for the Phoenix SX ride day can take it for a spin....it's one fun bike.

And finally, your bike looks awesome...very nice!!
Moto814 is building our YZ144 now, will see if it's the same...

Got one and that is just what we are doing with help from:

FlyRacingUSA
FMF
Motorex
Michelin
Motion Pro
Wiseco
Moto814

The '01 frame I like better than the alum one for some reason...

I wonder if the late model YZ125cc motor could be fit into the CR frame. I had both a 2001 CR 125 and a 2004 YZ 125, huge power difference motor wise! I would love to see a CR/YZ hybrid.........
X2 Wadded, I was wondering the same thing. Would be the unltimate 125. Man, how nice it would be to see these bikes in competition again!

Very cool thread--great work on those bikes--they look killer!

Back in May I got the 125 itch and found a CR125 on Craigs list. The guy ended up being a flake "Don't have title, do you need it?" kinda BS.

Next thing I know I'm thinking do I need a 4th dirtbike? And started to miss my sweet ol 87 Hurricane.

So I started looking for streetbikes and found this at a Pawhshop of all places.... Woohoo

So far so good and we have been having a great time on her.

Anyway sorry to hijack, back to the thread... Cool

I saw this bike in action at starwest, the same day RVs of first ride back from the broken leg. Bike barks from what I could tell...

The owner of the yz was pretty cool too... I parked next to him and as I was walking by I recognized the bike... I said dude I saw this bike on vital! He said yup that's it... I asked if I could check the bike out? He had no problem of a complete stranger inspecting/admiring his machine... Thing was perfect

yeah that was my buddy Dustin Nowak, hes actually a pro FMXer (everyone calls him Wacker). he still rips around a track pretty good and keeps this as his fun track bike. he dabbled with having his own graphics company a while back and he designed and printed those graphics himself i'm pretty sure. i'm too lazy to dig up a photo of the YZs from '97 but i think he even went into detail and used the same style numbers they used back then too. definitely a sick bike!!

in fact i've been jonesin' to take a spin on a 125er and Wackers laid up with a shoulder injury, just might have to hit him up to try this puppy out. if so i'll post pics! Cool

I loved the YZ, but the CR had laser like handling (but no low end) the YZ/CR bike would be very cool.............

Is that yours? Are you currently riding it. Just wanted to see and check how the steel frames hold up after years of use. I know when I was on Suzuki's they used to stretch and feel a bit soft after a year of racing on them. Big fan of the Yamaha steel frames not so much the aluminum frames.

I have an 03 with 134 kit, porting and head work by Derek at HPBikes.com in Texas. he does a lot of epoxy work, mods the powervalve stop pin, shaves the head and works the squish band. Sent me an RM piston to use (or was it a YZ piston?) best mods are change to the 07 airbox rubber boot (I think 06 is the same as 07), add holes in the airbox, V-force or Rad, and best of all an air striker carb. it freakin kills my sons 05 YZ 125 (which used to be mine) but of course the YZ is bone stock.
What experience did you have with HPBikes?

Yep it's mine! It's being rebuilt now, Project Bike...My frame is powdercoated and no issues, I probably couldn't tell if it was squishy anyway, I'm too slow. But I did have the 2006 (alum) frame for a while in the UK and felt it was stiff and a bit tall...this thing is a test bed for a lot of cool products so stay tuned. If you live on the East coast you can ride it as well.

How will the frame and the swing arm hold up? The black looks really nice but will it dull or look like black rims after awhile?

I think it looks great and I've owned this bike on and off since 2003...it was a project bike for Motocross.com when I worked there and got sold. I bought it back and now it's a project bike again. The rims are black but I don't know how they were done...
