Sport deserves Barcia on a 450 for SX

IMHO regardless of the other factors we can throw at this, all of which may make sense when you spell them out, they ultimately add to zero. Barcia has been on the 250 for the last two SX seasons, clinching the championship in 2011.

It's time to move up. It's time for him, it's time for the sport.

Yes the class is stacked already, but why not completely electrify it? Justin Barcia reminds me a lot of a young Rick Johnson in his aggressive style on the bike and charisma off the track; and to this day I don't think we've seen another Rick Johnson in terms of that specific type of super stardom. In many ways, Johnson is still the best when it comes to all out rockstarmanship, more than anyone since imo. But Barcia has that thing, there's something there and it's rare. I can envision an epic rivalry architecting itself between Justin and James Stewart. I know the others are lightening fast, so it's just a hunch.

Honda, bring this kid into the premier class for 2012. It's time.

I think a guy named Jeremy McGrath had that covered.............In every single way, thats a guy that will never be replaced......RJ was great, but MC was and is the King........

He certainly is in many ways, but in all out super stardom within the sport (as opposed to bringing visibility from the outside), I think Johnson is the one. Just my opinion of course.

I'd love to see him move up too. He made the class look stagnant last week.

I love him on the 450 and I didn't think his style would translate to the big bike. The more talent in the premier class the better. We could have 6 diff race winners next year! As far as his off the track charisma I am not so sure. He doesn't come across that intelligent to me in his interviews but that's something I could care less about. I hope he brings it next year for sure

I was as excited as anyone to see him running with the top 2 last weekend, but that was 1 race.

If he goes 8-6 with crashes this week will he be the same "out of control Barcia" that so many have pegged him to be all season?

1 race doesn't make you an Icon.. so comparing him to Johnson or McGrath in the 450's is pretty premature, dont you think?

It's not just Barcia. The top 10 250 nat riders or the top 5 from the West and the top 5 from the East should be in the 450 sx class. 20 guys who want and can win a main event instead of 5 guys lapping the rest of the "field". Dudes like Jason Thomas should not be on the same gate as RV, RD, or JS in a main event if you ask me. Keep the lites class for the up and coming riders, the poorly supported riders, or the downside of career riders. Lets put 20 top riders on the gate. Or make the 450 sx class a 10 rider main event gate. Enough with the filler material just to make it look like a "big" race.

I guess it depends on what you're comparing. You can reread the original post in case you didn't already to understand the comparisons being made. Quite simply, physical aggression (body mechanics) on the bike and charisma off it. Sorry if you like, completely missed that.

Disagree. Let the guy defend his title. And guess what. He will not ride the 450 in SX. No one is crazy enough not to defend a title that is eligible.
