So last week I was flying out of Sacramento to Ontario. Im sitting at my southwest terminal and some dude walks up all MM head to toe. Boxing gloves strapped to his back pack and some big ass shades. Wondering who this bro was and when he took off his glasses it was none other then Deegan. We fly to Ontario and I see him at baggage claim. I saw what up Deegan congrats on the gold at X games. He looked at me and said yeah what ever and walked off.

I have heard the stories of him being a dick but didnt really think much of it. Thought it was funny since I just gave him props on his win and he brushed off the compliment.

I could see him getting pissed if I asked for some pictures and autographs but doing that for saying a few words to him was funny.

That sucks. I went to the local Honda dealer here in Las Vegas a couple years ago and Carey Hart was at the parts counter getting stuff. He offered me his place in line and I said to him "I tried jumping that gap behind the silver bowl" he said"Ya the one in the begining of Frezno smooth" I said "Ya it scared the hell out of me and I almost crashed" He said "Everyones crashed on that jump" I have nothing bad to say about Carey Hart, hes a down to earth guy and I hope H&H makes millions.

Deegan's a bitch. He should just go jump a shark and rip up another golf course to impress all Oldskool type guys.

I've chatted with Mike Metzger on a few occasions, he was a great person. Bummer about Deegan though, I pictured him different.

Deegan was pretty cool when I met him waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. We were at a regular race on a Sunday at Agency Motocross track in Missouri, and he showed up there with some other pro who was real fast, just can't remember the name. I would almost swear Kenny Watson was his mechanic that was there also. He was in a box van, was real nice, and had the autograph stock and signed autographs for everyone. This was way before he was famous. Pretty sure he was on Hondas at the time. He was fast as hell at that track that day. I still have the autographed poster somewhere at my parent's house. Haven't been around him since, but he was cool as hell when I met him.

Well said!!! I fly out of Hawaii a lot to the East Coast, and that's a long time on a plane. Pretty easy to be in a bad mood after plane flight, especially these days.

So when you get home and your wife/daughter/mom/dad/son go to give you a hug, do you push them away and take it out on them?

All im saying is that it doesnt take that much to check yourself when someone that respects you shows you that.

Yeah, that's a terrible attitude to take with someone who is just being friendly. On the other hand, flying and travelling for many hours can really put one in a weird, irritable mental state.

Years ago, I was at the old Supercross round at Seattle Kingdome and saw O'Mara, Ward and Johnson walking the track. Some kids yelled at them for autographs. O'Mara and Ward just kind of waved them off and laughed and walked away. Rick was the only one to come over and sign for the kids and chat with them.

Little things like that stick with people, although I can see the argument too that they aren't obligated to sign or chat with random people in airports or sitting in the bleachers.

Seriously?
One guy isn't happy with the answer he got from the guy in baggage claim and that makes him a douche?

I hope I never meet any of you in an airport......by the time I get off a plane I am ready to stomp on a nun's throat to get the fuck out of there.

Sorry jndmx, your post falls flat. No where in Icemans post didn the term "chatting" come up. If Deegan wasn't sure an arrogant bitch, a simple" hey thanks!" would turn the whole story around and maybe this thread would be completly different.

Saying "thanks" is not chatting. Deegan IS a douchbag.

I don't recall where I stated it was ok to commit domestic violence, but ok. Were you there at the airport when the OP met Deegan? Maybe the OP came off arrogant, or something when he met Deegan and it rubbed him the wrong way. I can't say for sure, I wasn't there. All I am saying is he was cool when I met him.

Motocross seems to have the biggest group of whiners of any sport. So a celebrity didn't come across as you would like. They have bad days just like I am sure you do. Grow a pair, and get over it

Deegan is such a tool.. Him and Mr. Hart shouldnt be mentioned together really, Carey would be the opposite to me, with own experience and reading your story, straight down to earth, nice guy that really cares about the sport and especially cares about the fans.. Dont give a damn what Deegan was going through, we were at Dallas supercross just a couple years ago when it was freezing/snowing/sleeting outside coming out of the north with a ridiculous stiff wind.. Damn near all the teams packed it up most the day for the "party in the pits", H&H trailer was on the backside facing north with nothing to block the weather, they stayed out there most of the day signing autographs, Carey included, smiling the whole time and taking time to get photos and talk with anyone who wanted too... Some lady even was being a lil' ridiculous and kept being loud and asking him about Pink which would have been annoying but he was totally cool about it and said yes she's here inside sleeping no big deal, laughed it off... was a fan before but became even more loyal after that experience.. needless to say I wouldnt expect the same from Deegan and his crew

Here is a side of it some of you may not think about......probably won't matter since most folks are posting with their minds already made up but here it is;

I was friends with a guy that used to wrestle with the WWE back when it was the WWF, I could tell you his name but I am sure you won't know him.
He was one of the guys that would play the "heel", wrestle a little dirty or most of the time he wore a mask which was even better in his words. Made him an instant bad guy.
If you watched any of that WWF stuff in the 80's you definitely saw him wrestle.

Asked him once why he didn't try to develop a character and take it to the next level.
His response was "Why the fuck would I do that"? Then he told me a story about having lunch one day with Roddy Piper.

They no sooner sat down than people started to wander over for autographs and to talk.
No biggie Roddy signed stuff, chatted and took pictures for a while.
Of course no one bothered my friend because as he happily told them "I'm nobody."

Then their food came and while my friend got to eat, the people just kept coming over and interupting Piper and wouldn't leave.
Finally Roddy says listen guys that's all....no more autographs.

The only two guys in a 500 yard range that didn't get an autograph immediately start giving him shit.
Calling him names and saying how he doesn't care about the fans, he's a pussy......etc.

So my friend says to me "Why the fuck would I want to sign up for that shit? You make a thousand fans happy but the only thing that people talk about is the 2 you didn't."

Deegan is a douche, it's pretty obvious, in his tough guy persona on tv and in person. You wouldn't see Pastrana or any other respectable Xgames medalist respond the same way.

That sucks man. He has always been cool with me when talking to him. To say something like that to a fan when they are giving you props then you must be having a bad day.

Of all people KDub would be the last person you would think would act like that, but a good friend of mine saw KDub at the airport one time and he reacted the same way. Same scenario with just saying what's up and props on a good ride. He just figured he was in a bad mood.

A few months ago I was riding at Pala with a group of French guys who had rented bikes. Deegan was there riding. I told him they were big fans. He took the time to sign autographs and pose for lots of pictures. Everybody has bad days.

I wouldn't treat anybody like that but then again I am just your average guy but if someone comes up to me and says "what up" and calls me by my last name like he knows me I would have been put off for sure. It may have been your approach, just because you may think you know him, he doesn't know jack about you or who you are so don't come rolling in like he's your "bro".

PJ205, comparing this to when you get home and your wife/daughter/mom/dad/son go to give you a hug, do you push them away, really? That is not even close, your family to a complete stranger?

Deegan is cool...he probably just had a bad day. I can't see him just being a dick because somebody said hi, asked for an autograph or a picture. I've met and talked to him a few times at the Anaheim SX rounds and a couple other times….him, Twitch, and the MM...and I am the furthest thing from a bro....don't dress like, act, ride, drive, or reflect anything bro....never have. I've met Carey a few times and hung out with him and Metzger in Portland when they were first starting out in the FMX. Carey and Micky Diamond came to Portland and needed a ride so my buddy asked if I'd pick them up, take them around town, and drive them out to Estacada for the warped tour where they were supposed to jump (I was going anyway). They weren’t allowed to ride that day because the landing from the ramp was set up to land in the bowl there. The promoters said no way, insurance won't let us. They didn't ride, and I ended up hanging with the FMX guys and meeting a bunch of bands from the warped tour. They were way cool.....nice, polite, thanked me for everything....the guys in the bands were way cool as well. I was invited to go on Bad Religion's tour bus and drink some beers...was an awesome day for sure!
