LB is decent (at best) at maintaining champions - getting an existing champion on payroll & providing them with adequate bikes to get the job done. MC - established @ Honda, never looked his best there on LB's team, but good enough to get a few more titles. Reed - was on and off there, but never looked as good as he did on the Suzuki or his current ride. Stewart - hopefully everyone is old enough to remember. A really great team manager can develop talent - RD with Dungey, Mitch Payton time & time agian - etc. I can't think of one rider LB has taken on @ the beginning of their pro career & developed them into a champion.

1) Because that's part of what makes a great team manager - developing talent.
2) A feeling of accomplishment from doing so.
3) Money. Gauranteed, Dungeys Championships have cost Suzuki less than any other current premier rider. Dungey has numerous champioships & is rummored to have a. 750k salary. You buy a Stewart, McGrath, Carmichael & you're paying 2 to 3 times that. Develop a rider & you've got him on the cheap. How much do you think Dungey will be making next year, more or less than when he won the MXDN, Supercross & Motocross titles all in one year?
"Provides the tools to continue being a Champion" & "Maintaining a Champion" - sound pretty similar to me.

I actually used to enjoy your posts & I'm sure I've posted that before. Like I said, I believe your posts regarding SM / LB come with quite a bit of bias & therefor lack credibility. Been on here since 08 & never jumped on your posts till this topic. Never even jumped on you with all your KTM bashing. though I feel your comments are made in some way to paint a better picture of Alessi.
BigHeadBobbyM thinking networking in motocross must involve him & he's being stalked.
Can you find something good - non SM / LB or KTM - that's worth reading, or does that just not get the ratings?
A contract is an agreement between two or more parties right, they can put what ever they want in a contract. I rider of James, Chad, Villo and Ryan could pretty much ask for what ever they want contract wise. what is stopping them signing for a team for SX only with the Contract finished the second the Vegas race is over and leave them selves the freedom to either not race outdoors as they earnt enough doing SX ONLY or make some extra cash by signing and outdoor contract with another team or the same team.
Just because you have not heard of it , or can not even ponder someone signing for only 5 months does not mean it cant be done!
What the Honda just became the best bike out there the Year Chad started doing well on it ! Last year everyone was talking the Suzuki up saying it was the best bike out there, so Dunge was winning in part to him being on the best bike.
Chads bike looks so good out there becaue he has it working for him, how about throwing some credit Chads way, maybe it is the fact that he has found the right people to put around him who can understand what he is saying when things dont feel right so it can be corrected.
is the 2011 Honda really leaps and bounds better than the 09 and 10 model factory race bikes, or is it Reed and his team found what it needed to work the best for Chad...
Go the Racerxill.com and have a read, Mate.
KDUB has looked great on that bike for years, he's just not a rider willing to risk it & completely hang it out there. He and Reed are very similar in that they ride more within their limits than other top riders & they are reaping long careers as a result. IMO the only time I've seen KDUB really push the evelope in the past couple years was this years Vegas. But, Canard proved last year that Honda had the bike. He came off the 250f for a few rounds & immediately showed Honda had a great bike.
