Cool.!

Put a KTM 300cc top end kit (if still offered through KTM) on the 250SX !

That would be fun in Outdoor MX.....

we'll see if an inferior antiquated old fashioned 2 stroke can keep up with a motor twice it's size.

hehe

I wonder what they will race in GNCC. Maybe the 300XC? Game over.
Wish Shorty could ride a 300XC instead of a 350SXF.

But I regress. This post is BS, because 2 strokes are dead. Never coming back in pro racing. LOL

They're only switching for the National Enduro series, not the GNCCs.

Here is the kit...

Looking for a bit more power from your KTM 250 SX? KTM has the answer for you. An engine kit that bolts right on to your existing bike that increases the displacement to 300cc.

This kit is perfect for the motocross racer that wants a little more power out of their machine.

Turn a KTM 250 SX into a 300 SX in less than two hours with five common tools for a few $$$, all in one box.

Yes, but if they are killing on a 250 2 stroke against the 450F's, I'm guessing they may go with the 300XC in the GNCC series, since the rules are fair there. Thanks DC for those rules.

They're not killing on the 250 2-strokes in the GNCCs, though. Ask Russell Bobbitt who has raced a ton on them this year and his best finish is a 5th - beaten by 2 450s and even 2 350s. Nick Fahringer races a 300 Husaberg 2-stroke this past weekend at the John Penton GNCC finishing 16th overall and 13-minutes behind the 450 of Paul Whibley.

Nate Kanney actually raced a KTM 300XC a few years ago as one of the last 2-stroke holdouts in the XC1 Pro class and ultimately made the switch to the 450XC.

What this is really about is last year on a 2009 YZ450, Charlie Mullins waxed everyone in the National Enduro series. This year he switched and is racing a KTM 450 SX in the series and getting beat by Russell Bobbitt's KTM 250XC. This is more a testament to the 09 YZ450 being better in the tight woods than the KTM 450, resulting in this change.

But wait....where's the cams, cam chain, cam sprockets, valves, and valve springs?

I love comparing a 2 stroke head next to a 4 stroke head.

Or buy the 300cc kit on eBay for the KTM for $350.

Ebay doesn't count ...what's the retail for that 450-500 kit and what kind of crack are you smoking that makes you think it'd last 3 times longer? Does it ALSO come with a NEW head like the KTM kit too??

KTm 300's are lasting 300 hours on a stock piston. I'd love to see a 450F 500cc overbore after 300 hours. My guess is, it would be all sprawled out in pieces, broke. But again, cc vs cc. Why don't we compare a 250 4 choke over bore 300 and see how many hours you can get on that piece.
I'm so over these 4 strokers spin. Today, my friend finds a YZ250 in MS for sale. He says, hey, I thought you said all the YZ's were selling out and hard to find, the 450F's were all sold out at this shop. I start doing research and they sold out of the 450F's with a deep discount. YZ250, still no budge on $7,150. So he says, see at the same price, the 450F sells better. Umm, my reply was, do you really believe a YZ250 that is a 6 year old design should sell for the same price as a brand new model YZ450F? I didn't get a response. Because all you fuckers know it. The 4 strokes should be much much higher msrp than a 6 year old design 2 stroke. For not just the fact of less parts, but for 0 R&D, and tooling too. Faux news at it's best. The only way to save the 4 strokes is spin the reality.

Anyone other than a top pro who buys that kit is just looking for something to overcome their lack of skill on a bike. My 09 250sx has more than enough power to get the job done. Heck, I'm the one holding the bike back.

Or how about a 325 or so, using the 250 cases and chassis. Oh yeah, THAT would be a 450F beater!
