Help us fight the closing of Oregon land

Below is a link to a petition to stop the closing 103 miles of riding trails in Oregon. It's a really simple online form. Try to take a moment to fill out comment box at the end. Not sure, but I think anyone from anywhere can fill out the petition. I think I should of had DDavis start this thread for maximum views Whistling

Lumpy .. If you can deal with rain you'll love it.. Very wet for 250 days a year, but when it's dry it's the most beautiful place on the planet. Lots of Tracks not too far from Beaverton. Woodland MX(Woodland Wa)- Sandy Or (Mountain View) - PIR (portland) - Washougal - Albany- Salem Arenacross - and lots more up near Seattle and on the other side of the Cascades..

I tried to sign from my phone. I will try from the computer when I get inside. What trails are they talking about closing? I ove the dunes and ride there a few times a year, I try to go when I don't think there will be much of a crowd, so I am definately note for anything that would increase traffic at the dunes.

Well....any one know a good discrimination lawyer in Beaverton???

HR's offer to my wife was a $5k budget to move......no raise. They gave 4 of her male coworkers a really good severance package when faced with the same situation. Offered zero to my wife.

Done! And don't forget who you vote for when it comes to these issues. It seems like the current President and his administration (Harry Reid, et al) have done more to close down public lands than any in recent history.

Not wanting to start a Dem vs. Rep. battle here, and yes, I realize people vote for politicians based on many issues, and many that are more important than keeping land open to ride your dirt scooter, but at least be cognizant of your politician's stance on these type of things. That way you know how you might be affected by their votes and/or agendas (or should I say the agendas of the organizations that the elected politicians are beholden to)

That may be true, he started a lot of bad things, and now things are even worse and heading downhill fast. All we can do is take notice and try to change them.

Wrong. I said was Bush made mistakes, and IMO, our current Prez is just as bad or worse, in general. But this discussion is about land closure, not the economy. But c'mon, even if you're a blind Obama follower, you can't REALLY believe the economy is better now than when Obama started his tenure!?

Anyway, back on topic - As I said, more land has been closed down, and continues to be closed down with Obama's administration than with any in recent history. Talk to the AMA if you don't believe me, it's one of their number one battles. It's a fact that the groups that support land closures, eradication of off-road motorcycles, etc. such as the Sierra Club, and other environmentalist groups OVERWHELMINGLY support the left and give their money to Democrats.

And THAT was the only point I was making in my original post, that riders should be aware of how their votes may influence available riding areas, and even motorcycling in general sometimes.

Just out of curiosity? With all the ground up in the Great White North, do you have issues like this creeping into your access to land? I just don't hear much about anything from up there with regards to this situation.

I would really like to know, I know Mexico, for the most part is still the wild wild west as far as access goes.

That's only part of the story - the gov't royally screwed up when they started this WPA stuff here 10 odd years ago, they brought in a big mess of them (30 or so) all at once. Boom - stay out. Even if you're on a bicycle. Shoot first ask questions later kind of deal. So now they're working at meeting their quota (12% of the province to be protected - how does that compare with other states/provinces anyway?), with a deadline looming. There's a new big one almost done right in my back yard, we've been back & forth with gov't and the greenies for over 3 years on it. From the feedback, they APPEAR to be listening, and aware they messed up with the first ones, but we will see how much of that is lip service when it is finalized. It's pretty astounding how widespread, organized & tangled all the green groups are at rolling out the propaganda and lobbying - and they are partly funded by government. Very frustrating. NB next door is only at 3% Protected, our province seems to be setting a trend, for some reason. Also very frustrating. But I am sure there are other parts of the country that aren't this bad.
