despite the racing being pretty poor...i cant remember another year (especially in the 800/tc era) that there are this many potential race winners.

simoncelli - probably the fastest guy, but cant keep it on two. he sure keeps things exciting.
jlo
stoner
dovi - turning into a perfect "B" teammate. great development skills and he dont mind handling the development role. and always a podium threat. pedrosa's days are numbered
dani - when he comes back, he will be a threat to win, but i cant see hrc running 4 factory bikes next year again. dani and sic are gonna be in a tough spot when looking for a ride next year. maybe dani will end up with aoyamas seat at gresini. aoyama needs a better bike to compete. its a shame cause he has the talent. not enough winnable bikes in mgp right now.
spies - next year will be his year!!!

thats 7 riders who could win on any weekend. when/if duc gets there shit together, we will no doubt be adding rossi and maybe/hopefully nicky to that list.

Lets not forget Rossi who had an impressive ride to fourth from 11th. Eventually he will make the Desmosdici his own machine and be a contender week in and week out. But Spies is becoming an "Alien" in his own right! Cheerful

normally i'd agree with you. but if you didnt watch this race first thing when you woke up, thats kinda on you. i mean, with all the excitement regarding rossi's gp11.1, i made sure i watched the race long before even coming on this site let alone the mgp sites.

motoshank, i agree. but at the moment, rossi is not a threat to win a race. mugello could change that tho. hell, he's not even out of the title hunt to be honest. he's only 50+ points back. considering the way his buddy super sic keeps wiping out championship leaders, rossi is just lurking in the weeds waiting to pounce. what a trip it'd be if rossi won the title after all the drama.

i dont want to see that tho, even tho im a fan of his. his title would definitely have an asterix on it if he were to get lucky enough to win. its pretty clear that ducati has skirted the "spirit of the rules" with the whole testing of the gp12. theyve pretty much cheated. they dont deserve to win this year. but testing bans in there current form are stupid as hell, but thats a whole 'nother discussion.

I got to agree with you on Ducati skirting the rules! I think they take their playbook from Ferrari in F1... Wink

And TL Ben winning his first race is front page news on any Motor sports website! Thats on you Bro! If you didnt want to know, you should have watched the race earlier. Cant really blame Sean.

What would be a "normal" situation for a spoiler alert.

I'm just waiting for 1000's with less/no electronics.

Then racing will be good again!

Also, congrats to Ben. I remember having to call him all the time for press releases in the AMA days. Cool to see him winning on the grandest stage of them all.

I typically don't visit Vital MX for MotoGP updates so feel that was brain fade for sean not to put MotoGP Spoiler Alert in the subject line with the Spies news in the body of the post. I can appreciate sean's excitement since this win is HUGE but would have preferred to have enjoyed it when i was watching the end of the race.

Yep I have to agree, i did not expect to see a Moto GP result posted here without a spoiler alert..Some of us were at the races at Lakewood or racing at our local tracks and look forward to seeing F-1, Moto GP, etc. later. WTF, is right!

Ben was lucky Suzuki couldn't keep him in MotoGP. That bike is no where near a leading bike there.

not really...per Casey Stoner after Assen last year.

"Casey Stoner has hit out at MotoGP following the Assen race, slamming the grid sizes and calling Yamaha's replacement for Rossi 'a joke'.

The fiery Aussie known for speaking his mind has told reporters that Yamaha's decision to replace the injured Rossi with Wataru Yoshikawa is 'atrocious'. Stoner claims Yamaha should have 'put anybody in that seat, but not a nobody'."

Ducati's world champ went on to say that grid sizes in MotoGP are 'a joke'

Stoner's fix? Make the manufacturers, including Suzuki, field more bikes.

Dorna are aiming for 22 bikes on the grid in 2011, but this isn't enough according to Stoner, who went on to say: "They need more bikes on the grid. Suzuki need to be forced to put four bikes on the grid. They’ve got enough money, they’ve got enough chassis.

"It’s just ridiculous, it should be a minimum of four. I don’t understand why companies don’t put last year’s bikes out there like they used to. Put more bikes on the grid, make more opportunities for teams.

"I’m sure there’s a way they can sort it out to run last year’s bikes, then smaller teams can grab a hold. It’s always been like that for years, but now it just seems to have disappeared.”
