Seems just a few years ago when thumpers 1st started hitting the scene that every rider out there had some sort of bump seat. Some were huge 2 step monstrocities and some were a simple bump. Now days it seems like there are only a couple riders running them. Was it just a fad or are the riders simply getting more used to the power of the bikes and now find it easier to stay forward just by having more "seat time"?

Kawasaki started using ridges all the way across the seats so no matter where they sit they're locked in.

Did the bump thing for 2 seasons. Due to my balls hitting the bump all moto I went back to flat. Ball's are much happier now.

I never understood the bump toward the back of the seat like that. Being a Honda rider, I've always had to sit on the tank almost to get my bikes to turn. Even if you sit mid-seat I can't imagine that thing even being felt, never mind holding you in place. Since I switched to 450s I really hate gripper seats too, under hard acceleration all they do is help pull my pants down. For me the stock seat is just enough grip and slip.

This is motocross... People saw one pro have a bump seat (probably because he weighs 105 pounds and has a 97hp 450) and everyone all of the sudden had to have one.

Just another stupid idea to try and look like you have an advantage. Its just a nut nocker. Owch. If your sliding back on your seat under acceleration you are not in the attack position and you are to tired to hang on correctly. Didn't they start in supermoto?
