My friends and I had a short arguement about it. In my opinion determination is having the drive to wake up in the morning and train, rain or dry, and work as hard as you can for the weekend, and heart is the determination you have while your racing (and training). Heart is when you crash and you have no visor and your half a lap behind but your still pushing your hardest. My friends think Heart is how hard you train. What's your thoughts on this?

heart pumps blood to your body.

determination is focus on a goal no matter the hardship.

I think the problem is that "heart" is undefined and could for some be the same as determination while it means something else for others. Basically you will newer get an straight answer.

Maybe I would use heart as in RC racing everything like Nats, SX and mxDn and while doing it went all in and therefore also determination, while Stewart and MC maybe will be the more determination kind of guy for me since they seems/seemed to lack the heart for the sport in general but showed amazing determination in the SX.

Not saying that's a fact, but again it's personal and therefore arbitrary when it comes to heart.

Personally I believe I have heart when it comes to racing. I never give up even when I feel like I'm going to die! I lack determination when it refers to training, but when I do train, I go all the way. I have heart while I train and race but not determination, and that's why the arguement stirred up. They believe I have no heart but I think I have heart but not the determination I need. Just wanted to see your guys thoughts on it.

Its not just one or the other its both.
So you're saying it takes just pure determination to get up and train in the morning, and no heart while you're doing it?

I'd say you hit the nail on the head (heart = in the moment; determination = throughout the week).

Awesome definitions!

x2. Canard has major heart. Got caught from a ways back and passed twice this year then came back to win. That's so hard to do.

I see them as synonyms to eachother IMO.

I look at riding and training as two factors: Dedication, and Commitment.

determination is something you acheive. heart is something that comes from deep inside yourself.

Determination is never ever giving up. Heart is putting everything you have into what you`re trying to accomplish.
