I know the differences, but I was wondering if anyone is shooting MX with the 1dII and not the 1dIIN version and if they were happy they didn't spend the extra $400-600 for the N.
I'm upgrading from an XT, so either would suit me, but it will be my last body for a quite a few years. I'd like to save the extra dough and get another lens, but I don't want to be unhappy that I'm missing anything with the 1dII, instead of the N.
Please let me know, I be ready to buy!

Just ordered a MkIII and probably will sell my MkII when it arrives and checks out.
I have a few saying that you won't be happy with anything but the N.
I'm glad for the news. I didn't want to pay over $2k for the N when there are some deals going for the 1dII. I am thinking of getting a 300mm F4.0L IS to go with my 70-200mm 2.8 Non-IS and start shooting some other sports where I'll need the reach.
Picked up a Kenko 1.4TC also, so I should be set! Did I say.. thanks for the great info!!

But heck, I'm coming from an XT. I'm sure I'll like it.
F4L IS should be fine for sunny days. That's all I used to use for outdoor MX until I got the 70-200 F2.8L, which I usually stop down to F4.0 anyway.
300 is far off purchase though.
Thanks for the recommendations! I saved a bunch of cash today.
If you shoot JPG's the N should be you camera. The newer Picture Styles in camera processing will give you dramatically better JPG's than the older mark 2..........I'm talking straight out of the camera = less processing.
If you shoot raw then save the money and get the older Mk2.
I have owned both................Pissed I ever sold my N.
Fell in to the hype of the Mk3, shot the San Diego supercross with it and had more soft shots than my 40D when I shot Anahiem 3. Returned the Mk3 and am waiting for the next model. Way to many AF issues with that camera to risk 4 grand on.
