Forkner, who is considered one of the greatest talents in off-road sport, has been far from the top five and struggled to rebuild his career after brain surgery last year. In this revealing interview with Vital MX's Lewis Phillips, he reveals just how hard it has been and where the next improvement could come from.

That was a good interview. I like the way you just let Austin explain it a little. I think him riding conservative like he is will benefit him later on.  For Austin, making a whole Supercross season, will be an accomplishment in itself. Good stuff

All the bikes are fast, that's not the problem. You train physically on the bike a few days and you'll hit the gym a but you NEVER train your MIND to work with your racing career. When you train your mind to race mode, you set up your mind to do what you want for results, then you turn it off when you go back to life.

He'll get there.  One of the toughest in the sport.  After all he's been through, he's now reaching the maturity it takes to earn a long career and achieve the championship level he's more than capable.  First year off green; new team; new bike...no doubt...he'll get there.
