Has anyone seen any changes/issues with 2R in the last year or so?
I had 2 customers that ran 2R religiously for years and I had never seen any issues with it. When they brought their engines in for freshen ups within the last year, the ports, transfer ports and case were completely covered in a black oily suet.
I swapped them both to 927 with the same fuels they have been running and the last freshen ups they were back to being very clean like we had been seeing.
I have heard of some recent changes to 2R after 2018 but wanted to see if anyone had seen the same?
It’s been the same for me since 2005 as far as I can tell. No new issues with my current yz250 or anything.
Yes! The ports and crankcase were covered in a black soot. YZ250 running 32:1 with a 50/50 Pump/110 mixture. The bike gets ridden hard; not pussyfooting around the track at 1/8 throttle.
I used to run straight 110, but started mixing in about half pump gas and then noticed the soot. I'm going back to straight 110 and will see how things look.
I think 2r is a little more smoky than 927. I may be running a bit rich on jetting but I do perceive that the 927 smoked a tiny but less. What do you guys think?
