Try soaking it in motor oil or smear grease on it. Also, don't over torque the nuts.
I've known guys to use copper spray-a-gasket on steel head gaskets. Try spraying the underside of the gasket with that, then install. The interface layer may help it come off easier
Coat w thin layer grease

Buy the cometic gasket kit thier base gaskets are not paper style. Metal base with some type of rubberized coating. Leaves little to no residue behind. They remove easily and you don't have to use any spray on crap or worse grease. They aren't anymore expensive than other kits brands. Been using them for years.
Trust me you'll definitely see the difference next top end and that's all you'll want to use going forward. Oh yea they are made in the USA too.
Use Cometic base gaskets and put a thin layer of grease on the gasket will not have issues next time.
thin layer of grease, just put some on your fingers and rub the gasket between, you basically just want the gasket coated but no actual grease sitting on it
Back in the late 90s I was into muscle cars. Used to use Chapstik on Holley float bowl gaskets to reuse them.
