Injury forcing me to be laid up for three or four weeks… Going to use the downtime to refresh my KTM 250 SX.
currently have a Rekluse Keihin carburetor and FMF fatty with a pro circuit 304.
50 hours, obviously was going to get the top end done and suspension refreshed but any other ideas?
new head (Tsp, RK tech etc)?
porting?
anybody have any ideas? Just don’t wanna waste the three weeks and not do anything to it.
thx
Increasing compression with an aftermarket head will cause you to lose top end over rev which is something this bike already suffers from.
300 kit. Shouldn't have to rejet or change pipe. Did my 22 TC250 and love it.
I'd say for maintenance/tune up you could:
Bleed your clutch
Check spoke tension
Bleed your brakes
Check your pads
Check your wheel bearings
Check bolt torques
Charge your battery
Grease your shock pivot points
Check your
For a new feel/upgrade you could
Get new grips
Get new frame guards with rubber grip
Add a steering stabilizer
Try out some new pegs (higher, lower, more forward, more back)
Try out some new levers
High pressure radiator cap
New Brake Tip
Add a couple new stickers
What carb and jetting you running?
debating doing the 300 kit

I've got the air box drilled out pretty healthily on top of the slots that were already in the cover. Stock Mikuni carb with 420 to 440 Main Jet depending on temperature, stock slide, stock lean needle dropped one notch, 32.5 pilot, air screw according to temperature. Runs awesome. Also have v-force Reeds but no other engine mods. Running 93 ethanol free. Motorex 40 to 1.
50 hours with time on my hands I would:
1. Replace front and back wheel bearings if you haven't done them before, I dont seem to get a lot more than that and they are cheap and easy.
2.Pull the swingarm bearings and clean / inspect / re-grease. I did my YZ recently at about 50hrs and there was plenty of water in there and the grease and bearing surfaces were still OK.
3. Fork seals would be good to do if you haven't replaced already. I have gotten 70hrs from my stock YZs seals just recently.
