2024 KTM 450sxf CUO question

Hey guys. I just purchased a new 24 ktm450sxf and put the CUO unit on it. When I try to change the settings, I can adjust everything and upload the map to bike… except the app will not allow me to slide the engine breaking all of the way to lowest setting. When I try this I get an error. Does anybody else have this issue? Seems to be a problem only with engine. Breaking settings.

I have never heard of that. You can try calling KTM customer service and see if they have any ideas. I know you needed updated software on the bike ECU but depending on when you bought your bike you should be good. I always assumed the CUO would not work at all without the right software on the bike.

Have you had the app check for firmware updates for the CUO?

Ive tried doing all the updates. Deleted and re downloaded the app.  I thought all 2024+ bikes already had the update? I can adjust everything on bike I just can’t adjust the  engine braking all of the way. Bizarre.

Sounds like your problem is with the app and not the CUO or the firmware in the ECU. I can’t replicate your problem in the app. Can you post a screenshot of the error you get with the engine braking?

Tried everything. Only issue I have is when putting engine breaking to 1.

So you're able to make changes to the map and save the changes, but whenever those changes include reducing the engine braking all the way down the map fails to load into the CUO?

Yes exactly. I can make changes and upload map with most settings (obviously haven’t tried every combo). The only time the map doesn’t upload is when I put the engine braking all of the way down to setting 1. Which is a bummer because I’m a two stroke guy and would like to eliminate as much engine braking as possible.

Apple or Android? Are you uploading while engine is running or not running? I had a lot of weird issues with the CUO. First it decided one day it did not want to talk to Iphones anymore. Then it would sometimes require the engine running to take an upload but not all the time.

Apple. I’ve tried both running and non running.

Good idea! I will try one later tonight and report back!

Tried android. Same issue. Can’t set engine braking to 1 or 5. Everything in between works.

Is the firmware on your CUO updated to the latest version?  The earlier firmwares were buggy. Should be v2.5.27. I have a IPhone and run maps with engine braking at 1 all the time and have never had an issue.

Another thing you could try is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to full power cycle everything.

I have the same version you do. Tomorrow I will go and disconnect the battery… see if that helps.

You could try resetting the cuo back to factory settings. Maybe that will get its mind right. There isn’t that much difference between 1 and 2 on the engine braking anyway.

Have you called ktm customer service? I don’t think they will be able to help but it is worth a try.

Well I just disconnected battery, waited a few minutes, connected. Still not working.

I tried calling a local dealer and they have no clue how to fix issue… I’ll see if I can find customer support number through KTM. The app was no help!

Well called the number. Spoke to someone, they didn’t know how to fix and said they’d get back to me. Still waiting…

Unfortunately the reputation for European electronics and electrical systems being unreliable was well earned.
