Can you feel a difference? Am I as an old and slow guy going to know the difference. Chaparral has an in store closeout of 120/80-19 MX33. It's about $45 more for a 120/90 MX34. What's the Dunlop alternative for SoCal tracks?
Inquiring minds and all that.
You won't notice any difference.
Save the money, get the MX33. Faster guys than me, and most in-house manufacturer test riders, prefer MX33 rears to the MX34. Still lots of discussion/debate on best front tire, but it's mostly unanimous regarding the rears.
Additional notes: The 120/90-19 MX34 is a really good tire. Just not $45 mo' betta' in this case. Dunlop downsized the 110/90-19 MX34 rears (compared to the MX33 sizing), to be a better 250F tire. They also want the 120/90-19 to be the most commonly used rear, making it lighter than even the 120/80-19 MX34. Tire sizing varies GREATLY by brand, don't be afraid to give it a test and report back...
I'll give it some thought, maybe head over the Chaparral in the morning and grab a tire.
The /90 feels heavy and like a balloon tire to me. No dice.
It will also change your gearing.
