Just wondering if they’re  worth it. Been looking at a couple models. 15L Vevor caught my attention.
I’m going to be down awhile and, figured I’d look into this to clean nuts, bolts and, a few other miscellaneous bike parts.

If you guys think they’re good, what are you using for a cleaning solution?

Here’s the model I’ve been looking at.

Not sure what size I got, but it's awesome. Use if for carbs more than anything it seems. I've been using simple green.

Are you diluting the simple green with water?

Yes. Hot simple green has been working great. cleared a few pilot jets as well.

Uultrasonic cleaners work well.

If your are cleaning small parts, cut a milk container in half, fill it with your favorite cleaning solution, fill the ultrasonic cleaner with hot water, and put the milk container into the water.

I have a harbor freight unit. Works well on everything I've used it for so far. 10 out of 10 would buy again.

Thanks man. I’m always skeptical about things I have no knowledge about.

I use vinegar. Works way better than the solution they sell.

I should also say I do mostly Stainless Steel. But sometimes I'll put some steel parts in the cleaner overnight in the vinegar to get the scale off and then run a cycle of the ultrasonic before I take them out. This works really well if the only thing available is hot roll steel.

I have the cheapo Harbor Freight model, the duty cycle is ridiculous. Only runs for like 6 minutes at a time, constantly have to reset it. And it makes the most annoying sound. The high end models in the $x,xxx range work much better. Bur for the $50 or so I paid for this thing, it gets the job done.

I regularly use dawn dish soap in it.

How would it work on titanium? I lube my ti hardware with copper ti lube. That stuff is always a pain to get out of the threads. Would it clean that stuff out as well as, the bolt itself?

Just bought the 15L Vevor. I ordered a set of baskets for small hardware and, Simple Green.
It’ll be here Thursday. The 15L one was on sale at Amazon and, only $21 more than the 6L one.

I typically have to use brake cleaner to get antiseize out of the threads first.

Maybe buy a gal 99% IPA to soak first. May or may not be aggressive enough to get the lube off. It's only like $35 gal I think.

I have a couple gallons of it. I do medical gas installations and, we use it to clean out our copper fittings as it leaves no residue.

The neighbors were convinced they could "artificially age" bourbon with an ultrasonic machine.

Anyone know the difference between scotch, bourbon, and whiskey? I asked one time while I was working at Brown-Forman. The answer I got was, Scotch has to be made in Scotland, Bourbon has to be aged in a virgin cask, whiskey can be a reused cask.

The best thing I have used in an ultrasonic cleaner is the jewelry cleaning solution sold at jewelry supply houses. It suspends the dirt, grease et al, so they don’t fall to the bottom and kill off the vibrating pulses.

I used my buddies to clean the carbs on my EZ cubs , worked incredible.  Did 2 cleaning cycles and put sulimple green into smaller containers . I guess the most important thing is the water level in the big tank is correct.

I’m kind of excited about it. I have a bunch of hardware and, smaller parts I can use it on. It’ll be here Thursday.

My surgery is tomorrow so, I’m trying to organize parts and, pieces in hopes of using it this weekend. Fingers crossed anyways.

I’m looking into set ups for electroplating as well.
I figure the ultrasonic cleaner will work hand in hand with plating.

Don't care.

Bourbon must be at least 51% corn, and spend at least 2 years in a white oak cask. Charred or not.

Maybe they want to do something after the first 2 years with ultrasonic, but 2 years minimum in a barrel, or you can't call it Bourbon.

Finally felt good enough to give this thing a go.

 I’m actually impressed with it.

Yes. I did a 50/50 mix with water.
I have Zep degreaser as well. I’ll eventually get around to giving that a shot to compare.

I figured there would be a slight learning curve to this. After cleaning the hardware, I rinsed everything with fresh water and, dried it.
This morning, I woke up to most of my hardware having this white stuff all over it. I imagine this is a reaction to the harshness of the chemicals.

What did you guys do to minimize this?

Maybe run another cycle with distilled water after rinsing?

I’m thinking so. I might shorten the cycle time as well. I set the machine up for, 120* and, a 25 minute run time.

My only experience is with brass for reloading, and we were using a prescribed solution, or at work, where we were cleaning stainless and also using some prescribed solution.

Pretty sure that's just some flash rust. Spray it with wd40 or some other type of preservative oil when they come out to get rid of the white stuff.
