My son has a 2007 4Runner with almost 200k miles on it. It's a tank and seemingly can't be killed, it just goes and goes. Fun to drive and goes anywhere. About the only thing to complain about is gas mileage. I've enjoyed driving it and have been a bit envious......
Turns out my wife is also a 4Runner fan so we just picked up a new TRD Off Road 4Runner (Lunar Rock color). Excited to have this thing for many years. It's considered an old and outdated design but that's exactly why I got it now (redesign coming in 2024) as I want the reliability.
Anyone out there have any 4Runner stories/testimonials?
I like the look of the 4Runner, but the seating position is a bit awkward for me. Got my wife the RAV4 she wanted a couple years ago and tried to talk her into a 4Runner instead, but after driving it I didn’t try very hard. But that was only because of the seat position, otherwise I would have loved to have one.
She got the Lunar Rock color also, and at the time it didn’t seem too common. After she got it, though, it felt like every other Toyota we saw was the same color!
Are you kicking yourself after seeing the new Land Cruiser? Both look sweet, though!
Great choice !!-- between myself/wife and daughter/son in law we have owned over 10 4Runners in the past 20 years and will not personally own anything other than a Toyota/Lexus product. You'll never regret it.
And by the way---I've been an Auto dealer since 1984 (and NOT a Toyota dealer,lol)

Bought my wife a new 4Runner in 91 I think, First year they got rid of the fiberglass rear cover. To this day she'll tell that was her favorite vehicle ever. We had many problems, the 6 cylinder was a bad design, blew head gaskets left and right. Toyota finally sorted it out with a changed gasket, but they pulled the head and installed new gaskets many a time.
225k (or around there) on my wife’s 2016 Limited.
My wife wants one, but I’m afraid if we get one the following year they’ll have a TRD Pro Land Cruiser or something.
