This as a Honda, Kawi or Suzuki would be well sought after.

It’s worth the $5200 for sure. Bids will be well over that I would imagine

I disagree. Everything about it is worse than the current YZ, worse forks, worse ergos and dated design. Also hampered by the fact you can get very near the same bike (except for even better) in 2023 for very similar to what bidding is going for.

makes sense as a museum piece I guess for someone who wants to keep it in the crate. If it bids any higher, it would be a bad deal even for the guy who wants to make a man cave display piece, since steel frames are still easy to find. even then 01 was the year McGrath got dethroned and this bike didn’t really win anything. Not a collectible vintage like a last year CR or KX or RM, not sure what people are seeing here.

I was going to say, one was on eBay earlier this winter, likely the same one. I have been looking for a very clean 2000-2001 Yz250 for a while now, I had a 99,2000 & 2001 when they were new, great bikes with a few simple mods. I would rather find a low hr well maintained bike, I plan riding it. Problem with this crate bike is, if you ride it, it just lost most of its nostalgic value. IMO… no more garage queens for me…

Some truth to what you say, but these steelies were great bikes and parts availability is great, which on Cr, Kx, Rm of that era parts is not the case. I agree there are several steel frame YZ”s listed for sale locally  but, most are absolutely junk…
