Hey guys, i have some months now i am trying to find find buttpatches materials. I know the 3D letter sewing with the leather but i want to make a patch with a digital printing. I found an article from ESPN that talked about it for the motoGp buttpatches and Motocross and said that Fox started using an Eva Foam material. I search it and couldn't find anything. Have anyone made a buttpatch before using digital printing? I will provide some photos to relate with what i want to make.

When I started out making MX graphics it was hard to find  material . But now there are a few materials that are  sold that would work, that a sign supply company should know of and be able to sell you or send You in the right direction of.

First , If You are  wanting to make them Yourself, You will need a  wide format/Sign industry type printer. that  uses Eco Solvent , UV , Latex or full solvent ink  to be able to print onto the materials.  A regular desktop printer will not print onto the materials You are looking for.

If You just want some for yourself and friends, You are better off having a company make them for you. Or doing hand cut, and airbrushed layers . The printers that can print onto the materials are expensive and need to be run often or they become even more expensive to own. I don't know of any materials that a desktop style printer would print onto , that would hold up. DangerUK was making butt patches. You will also need a HD sewing machine or sew them by hand with HD thread.  If You have a local Cobbler  or somebody that makes custom vehicle interior's they may be able to help sew them for you. A regular sewing machine will not be able to get through the material .  You need to sew them on, I've seen people try and glue them and it turns out horrible.

Thank you very much for your time . The only thing that I have is a sublimation printer because I was making mousepads a few years ago. Yes i need that for me and my friends but I like the process of making things myself.

I have seen people make butt patches using basically mousepad material. Neoprene without the nonslip rubber that is often on the Neoprene intended for a mousepad. It will look a little different, but I think it would be more comfortable than the stiffer vinyl/leather stuff.

The place You got blanks from, might also have bulk neoprene if You wanted to try using it to make a butt patch.  . Sublimate it and then  hand cut and sew.  One of the suppliers I get sublimation stuff from has a few types of Neoprene . Some that is thicker , thinner, nonslip back , etc.  I made some custom shoe insoles with neoprene .  You may even be able to find Neoprene at a local fabric store.  It has to have white  polyester or nylon  on one side so that You can sublimate it.

Neoprene and EVA foam are similar  and You have probably worked with Neoprene  while making mouse pads.

I have seen places advertise Iron on, or heat transfer  style butt patches. They put a heat activated adhesive onto the material . In my experience sewing is the only way to get a durable finished product. The heat transfer style will often fall off or peal if You ride with them. If its on a display pant that would never be worn, it might work.  But the heat activated adhesive can leave a discolored area too after the patch peals. So its not good for temporary use either. Some pants may work better than others with a heat adhesive. But most pants are either stretchy or a harder nylon , and neither material is great for using any type of adhesive.

Whatever material You use, make sure You sew them on if You want them to last.

I also enjoy the process of making and learning how to make different things.

I made my son a few basic ones, 2 tone. I used my silhouette vinyl cutter to cut thin leather/upholstery vinyl. I did outter and inner color then used 3m double sided tape. Then sewed it onto pants.
