Wanting to take me son riding next week for fall break and possibly rent a cabin for two day. never been to ether place can anyone tell me witch is better or the pros and cons to each place thanks
I lived at d town for a winter as a trainer. The tracks depend on the weather. The owner and staff when I was there was all top notch. Getting ready for outdoors I busted the pto shaft on the water truck…. Maybe more than once. Also broke some teeth off the ripper behind the tractor. May have gotten fired from that aspect lol. They have the ga clay so it’s hard packed but it’s an experience. I’ve had multiple people go down there and it’s hard to even take it all in. If you like trails and Moto equally you’ll be in good hands. They have a on site dealership and mechanics and bike wash stations a full kitchen etc.
can not speak on the other place but if you’re not looking for a rutted up over groomed Moto track def hit d town!
Man thanks for the info I appreciate
tracks are better at DT, but Highland Park is a LOT closer to TN. So if you don't mind the extra drive go to DT. HP's tracks never get any maintenance and they are the same GA clay. Better yet go to Monster Mountain if you haven't yet.
The tracks at HP are fun but dirt sucks and depending what day you go they can be torn up.
With that said, HP is a much better run facility and DT isn't exactly known for having great tracks.
If only 2 days, go to HP. If you got more time, swing down to Monster Mountain as well as a stop at HP.

HP doesn’t cater to quads/4 wheelers. There are some trails for them, but for the most, it’s set up for motorcycles.Bikes ONLY on the tracks, but it hasn’t rained in N. Ga for about 3 weeks so imagine red concrete. Zero track prep at HP, to be fair, it would be red talcum powder. Look forward to at least one pinch flat due to alot of rocks on the trails. Challenging trails with pretty good elevation changes. DT(P) is a 4 wheeler nightmare, IMO. Trails are deeply double rutted by those things. Tracks may be prepped, maybe not. Tracks are better if they are but trails are way more boring. Flat, hard when dry, slick when wet. Have fun!
Durham Town is the broken clavicle capital of the World.
HP has great trails, mx not so much. DT has enough to keep you occupied if youve never been. 6 mx tracks in varying difficulty and the arena x track- condition mainly weather dependent. Trails arent that bad at DT as there are plenty of bike only trails. Having lived in the area for several years DT is a lot of my friends go to and Id suggest it over HP any day of the week.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the info guys. we are both going to be on bikes.I think he will like the tracks, but I also wanna do some single tracks does Durhamtown have different skill level on there single tracks?
Not much "single" track at Durham Town in my opinion. The quads and UTVs have everything blown pretty open. UTV's will line up in groups, and cruise slowly along, completely blocking trails at times. That being said, if you can catch open trails you can have a blast.
HP has trails from simple to gnarly and they are far closer to single track.
IMHO
Masters Motoplex in Gaston SC is pretty awesome. They do some nice track prep, and they have trails as well. No cabins to rent, but im sure you could find AirBnb nearby. Top notch facility with good dirt and they know how to prep.
HP trails are far better- rated by difficulty when entering. Trails at DT that're bike only have small entrance only a bike can fit through- Id absolutely call them single track, not as much elevation change though. They also have difficulty markers on the paper map but the hardest trail at HP vs DT goes to HP. Track...I don't touch the track when I go to HP bc they are sketchy since they get no attention and mostly very small. Being in the Atlanta area its a wash distance wise between the two and I can say somebody in my group is at DT every weekend and only goes to HP when they're bored out of there mind and need to switch things up, which isnt often.
Much more variety at DT. Haven't been in years, but use to also have a flat track and drag strip
Thanks again iv booked us monday and tuesday
Had a couple friends ask me to join them for a trip the Durham town Thanksgiving weekend. Never been before and was weary about the trails not being really bike friendly and the tracks being a bit lack luster. May give it a shot after reading this thread, anyone have any idea how much of a mad house it would be Thanksgiving weekend?
