Measuring triple clamp offset

Is this an accurate measurement of triple clamp offset?


1) Measure the stem diameter = 30mm. We need the radius = 15mm


2) Distance between front edge of fork tube and stem = 40.0mm
Offset = 40.0 - 20.5 (radius of fork tube) + 15 = 34.5mm (35mm nominal)

It's not a bad way to get close. If you can stick the fork tubes in there, it will give you a positive stop for your rule to remove one source of error. Measure to the nearest tenth of a mm and try to use the same (light) pressure on the caliper all the time. Measure a few times and if you're getting consistent measurements then call it good.

Also, most things are designed with nominal dimensions, so if your math ends up with an odd number, it' probably the closest nominal half millimeter. So:

(29.9 / 2) + 40.1 - (41.0 / 2) = 34.55, so 34.5mm offset

A - B + C = offset (nominal)

A = Distance between front edge of fork tube and stem
B = Radius of fork tube
C = ??

Resulting in:

40.0 - 20.5 + 15 = 34.5mm


Your example has
