Maxima oil question

I've got a 2013 Ktm 250sx. I typically race gncc and harescrambles but still like some moto. I've used Motorex from the day I bought the bike but I just got a sweet deal with maxima and thinking about switching. How is the Maxima compared to Motorex? Also which premix and tranny oil would be the best? I see they have a couple different ones of each. Thanks

I run Maxima Super-M premix. Works great. K2 is their top of the line oil. I tried it and it caused more black spooge in my situation. Others love it. It is a great oil I just didnt want to rejet my bike to match it.

There was recently another thread on here about premix. Check it out.

I've tried Maxima MTL for the tranny in the past and it is a good oil. I personally stick to Bel-Ray gear saver just because it's what I've always used and never had a problem but MTL is good stuff also.

I always ran K2 with excellent results...

Always ran Rotella 15/40 in the trans. I run Rotella in everything 2t and 4t alike...

Maxima makes good stuff. I've run cheap Pennzoil 10w40 in my two strokes for 20 years with great luck.

K2 is good premix oil.
I've used the MLT tranny oil also. I do prefer bel-Ray gear saver, but saying that I'm running Yamaha gear oil now, and it's been great.

Thanks guys. What weight would you recommend? My Motorex is 15-50 but I've heard a lot of off-road guys running a 80-90 or 85-90 gear oil.

An SAE 90 gear oil is basically the same viscosity as an SAE 50 engine oil. Not exactly but enough crossover to be comparable. So you aren't changing the viscosity much if any by changing to an 80W-90 or 85W-90. The image below is a good visualization, although I do not know why the chose to exclude the 100C viscosity (which is what determines the SAE grade):
