Hey guys, I’m buying the above bike and looking to update the suspension over the winter time. What is the least involved swap to have better suspension on this bike for the vintage class next year. Are SSS swaps doable?

Stock stuff isn’t bad. Set it up and ride it.

Facts, it’s got FC revalve on it….was just seeing if there’s a more modern swap. I did do a thread search and it took me some time but apparently ‘08 Showa fork slip right in. After picking the bike up and going over it….I’ve got a lot more to worry about than a suspension swap at this point.

I put a set of 49mm showa from a newer CRF450 on this '95
used the bearings from the all balls front end conversion chart.

Ya I was looking at that chart, did you have to change out the races in the steering stem? I’ve been looking for a set of ‘08 forks, I can use the ‘96 clamps but would just have to shim the bottom. Only problem is finding forks that haven’t been dicked with, stock springs suit my weight well.

I've got stock fork spring for the 2007-2008 CRF450R forks if you're interested.

I have a set of 08 Crf forks on my 96, I have period correct applied clamps, the forks slid right in…stock 08 Crf forks have way more potential than the 96 jack hammers but the 08 forks were not great stock either… I had mine reworked by Factory connection…

Awesome man, I’m prolly gonna go that route with aftermarket clamps and get the all balls conversion. And Saratoga Springs?! I’m moving up to Malta next week.
