2015 ktm 450 FE electrical help?

Having some issues with a friend of mines bike. Its a 2015 ktm 450 sxf FE. Problem is the bike wont turn over, chirp, or relay click when the start button is pushed. The bike has a brand new battery, wps lipo. Checked the plugs, connections to the battery and fuses already. Cant figure this out. Any suggestions?

Try disconnecting the kill switch? Check the ground connection to the battery and the ground where the coil is.

The best thing would be to find the same year bike and start swapping parts.

Definitely recheck the ground with an ohm meter. Also check the plug closely behind the front numberplate because I've seen 2 of them where a wire had pulled out of the plug and it was hardly noticeable but was causing the exact problem that you're describing.

When you press the start button, do you hear the fuel pump start running?
If not, check the start switch. If yes, then check the starter wires and grounds.
Also check the starter relay. They do fail. They work just like an auto starter relay and if it does not get power it will not work. They also just fail from usage, but not real often.

If the fuel pump isn't making noise then it's not even trying to start. If there no light flashing behind the number plate, I'd try a new start switch after checking all your connections and ground points.

Check the wires to the switch behind the number plate. The connector is mounted side ways and the wires
tend to break at the connector from bouncing up and down. Eliminate the connector and hard wire the starter
switch.

Be sure to check to make sure you are getting voltage to the switch and if so then check the starter relay to be sure that voltage is getting to it when you push the start button. If not then you may have a broken wire. If the voltage is getting to the relay , but the starter voltage does not make it from one big terminal to the other , then the relay is bad. ( assuming you have battery voltage to one of the big terminals right from the battery). If not then check that cable for dirt, rust or bad connection.

Its the fuse. It didnt blow. But after taking it apart i noticed a hair line crack where it connects to one of the posts. The spare also cracked in the same location. Would have thought it was good just by a quick look. A quick hard wire through the relay and boom, it had power. Now off to the auto parts store. Thank you for all who responded. At least it gave me a reason to buy a good multi meter. Lol. Ill try to post a pic of the fuse. Strange that both would crack in the same spot.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I’m having a similar issue with the same bike. When I press the start button I just hear the relay “click.” No pump noise, or anything else. I checked the fuses in the relay and they are good. All the connections are clean and no wires seem to be broken or in visibly bad shape. The bike only has 90 hours and has been meticulously maintained, so I hate to think it’s the starter motor. The battery is also new. Any help is appreciated!

I’m now having this same issue lol 19 450sxf with 25 hrs. I checked the battery, starter relay and connections. The one to the start button had some corrosion built up in it, I cleaned it out and still nothing. No light and it’s not acting like it wants to start at all. I ordered a new ground wire, and new start/off buttons to see if that is the issue.

Any update in the repair, I have the same issue on a 2017 450FE with no fuel pump power, no prime. I replaced the pump and same issue,

Check the fuel pump relay in the airbox as Paw suggested. It’s baby blue. If it falls off it’s mount and rattles around it is easily damaged.

Check the wires coming off the voltage regulator near the frame. This is my 2014 KTM 450 non FE with ~150 hours on it. It took me a while to find and was intermittent, but when the white wire grounded to the frame, the bike was dead. You can see the green wire was starting to wear too.

You need to remove the gas tank and unbolt the regulator to really see it so it's very easy to miss.
