ok my camshaft bolt was stripped so i was taking it apart. well i took off the cam cover and the position ring feel down in the motor. so my question is how can i get it out with out taking the whole head off. because i really dont wanna take it off. thanks

Oil will come out, but if you take magneto cover off you will find it.

No need to split cases.

Just yesterday I fished out a retaining ring and a cam cap dowell pin with a retractable magnet. Chances are good you can get it that way without pulling the ignition cover. If you don't have the magnet go to your local Autozone, Oreilly's, etc. they usually have them at the counter for like a couple bucks.

Yeah and if you decide to take the side case cover off just put the bike on its side and you wont lose any oil. Thats how the pros do it before a race.
