Smooth power and plenty of it. Doesn`t turn the best but stable in the whoops. Good reliability if maintained properly.

I think he was asking what the difference would be between using a stock piston and a high compression piston in his bike...... not what the bike is like. I am interested in this too. If a high compression piston is used what octane will be beast want to be fed?

I have a 13.5:1 wiseco piston in my crf450r. I run 93 pump gas with no problems and it made the motor alot more snappy. I am not gonna say I noticed a huge power gain as it is a 450 and i don't use all the power anyway but it has awesome throttle response now.

Bingo! haha. I know what the bike is like. Wanted to know what the High Compression piston does to it.

I'm worried about the race gas thing and starting. I don't want the bike to become more difficult to start. Any added horsepower / torque is not worth being more difficult to start for a spode like me. I've lost waaaay more positions in races because of a bike not starting than I have for not having enough power.

I was told using a high compression piston requires race fuel, you might want to check with the piston company to get the proper info!

Thanks for getting me straight on this thread. I think when you start getting old you do stupid shit more often. Yea, that must be it. Or else my new meds are not working as intended.

If you're only raising the compression half a point (12:1 to 12.5:1), then you will be fine with the highest octane at any gas station. Once you bump compression a full point, or one and a half, you need to run race fuel. You might be able to cut it 50/50 with pump, depends on conditions and other mods. Best to experiment.
