Start with what the owners manual says. Then add up what everyone on here says and divide it equally. And then.......

Hondamilk#147 follow the instructions of what ever brand of oil you are using. Oil manufactures put a lot of r&d into their products, they know whats best for their product.

Remember that the lower the amount of oil used in the mix the richer the fuel mixture will be. The bikes are jetted from the factory for a specific fuel oil mix and changes to that will require some jetting changes.

I ran 32:1 in my RM250 for years, I think it really helps with keeping the engine healthy as I had no issues with any of my bikes to date and have always ran 32:1. Even when I first got into motocross I was learning maintenance and I hadn't cleaned my filter or changed the oil in my RM125 for probably almost 2 years before the top end that was in it when I got it finally wore out. Lord knows how many hard hours that bike had on it when it finally went! Threw a new top end in it and sent it on down the road. Just make sure you choose a oil and stick with it, I prefer Castor 927 as it smells like heaven Wink

Remember, Everyone has there own opinions on whats best. When I was first looking for the best ratio everywhere I turned said 32:1 and I never looked back. Let us know how it goes!

32:1

Why oh why can people not undertand, MORE oil makes MORE power. Google it. There are endless articles out there proving this and I have found none saying the opposite. If you are getting sploodge, adjust your jetting, NOT your pre-mix ratio.

Never run anything less than 40:1, whether you can or cannot get away with it, I don't care what KTM manuals say (60:1), it is not healthy for the motor and you are losing ring seal.

Any good quality oil will work, pick your preference.

I'm glad most run 32:1. Not sure why guys get off on running 50+:1. Jet it right and it'll be crisp. Or hell, leave the jetting a little rich and just ride the thing hard enough to keep the PV clean and you'll have fun AND your engine will last! I don't have the cash to be dropping pistons (and maybe even a new cylinder) in any more often than absolutely necessary. I run 32:1 H1R and when I put my new pipe on I took a look thru the exhaust port and everything was nice and oily and no signs of wear at all. That's my $.02 in my limited experience with 2-stroke maintenance.
