I know this isnt neccesarily moto but its all relative in my book haha. So I just bought a 1995 ninja 250 with 5000 miles on it, so its still pretty young, its just been sitting in my buddies garage for years and hasnt been ridden, never dumped, well maintained, just has been sitting. I have it running, and it rides nicely when your on it and cruising, but when I have it in neutral, it doesnt want to idle for very long, and once it drops under 1,000 rpms, it stalls out. We have the idle set all the way high, but it still only idles at 2200 at its highest, and only idles for about 25 seconds. When its running on the street in gear, it cruises great tho. There is also a very slow leak of gasoline coming out of the botttom of the carb and the idle knob....anybody know about streetbikes also that has an idea? Thanks guys!
P.S. The throttle isnt very responsive once the R's begin to drop..

Just took it for a quick test ride again, now its not even idling at all, its basically on the throttle keeping the Rpms from dropping below 1500, or its going to stall on its own...idles turned as high as possible.

Most typical been sitting bikes need a battery, tank clean & carb clean. Always good to pop in a fresh set of sparkplugs and pull the air filter to see if any critters have made it home.

The viton tipped plunger has probably deteriorated and is allowing fuel to pass, which is why you're seeing it leaking out of the carb. Or the float could be set too high as well.

Not wanting to idle is low speed circuit being gummed up (as stated before).
Time for an old fashioned carb overhaul and some fresh fuel.

I just did one earlier this week on my boat. I should have done it 2 weeks ago before the heat wave hit.
Ethanol freaking sucks!!!!!

MC carbs just need to be cleaned. Very seldom will a part need to be replaced.
