I've used a rag or a penny.
How i can repair the cases please?
I need advice for painting the engine please.
The 92 CR250 was a major redesign for Honda and was the last version of the steel framed CRs.
There were some problem areas. Engine wise, the new case design did not flow enough oil between
the transmission and the right side case cover, so clutch problems were common. Honda came out
with a fix which consisted of drilling a couple of holes in the right side case. The problem was corrected
by 93. The other problem was swingarm failures between the extruded and cast section. The common fix
for this was a weld repair for the cracks and to run more chain slack and a larger OD bottom chain roller
from a 91 CR250.
Looking at your pictures, it appears that motor let go at some point and also suffered some kind of impact
at that engine mount sufficient enough to crack the case. You can go the cheap route and have the case
welded or I recommend you spring for a set of used later model cases (93-96), from a swap meet or Ebay.
The newer cases will have better oiling and hopefully no cracks to repair.
At the very least, you need to replace all the bearings, seals, shift pawls, plungers, springs, clutch basket
(outer and inner), clutch plates, clutch springs, CS sprocket, and top end. I'm sure the power valve will need
some serious clean up and decarbon and maybe some replacement parts as well. You're talking about a
22 year old dirt bike with some serious use and neglect from the looks.
Probably a good idea to work up a budget totaling how much you'll need for all the replacement parts and the
time involved to do the work and then decide if this is something you still want to, or can afford to do.
Good luck with it.
dogger
Initially, I had planned a budget of $ 3000, I live on an island and CR are often wrecks and sold cheap. But I have just been licensee economically, i am obliged to do with the minimum.
I discovered motocross on a 96 CR125 and wanted for some time now restore a Honda steel frame old in memories. The bike will be in expos 90% and 10% circuit. The time required to do the work is not important. I just want to hear the noise of 2 stroke and feel that peculiar smell ...
There are people that degrade old motorcycles and others like you and I let us save this heritage. I congratulate you for 93 CR250!
For the moment I will weld the case, but if I find work, I think buying new.
A big thank you to everyone who encouraged and helped me!!!
Sorry for my english, i'm french!
sanding, welding, cleaning, epoxy primer, sanding now.
I need your help. I think to improve the flow of gas and the intake manifold, there are two bumps there needs to remove or soften?

Someone has already tried the gold valve kit?
I'm not racing, I ride just for pleasure and supercross arena.
and thanks to Google translate! haha
I'll keep my eye out for a NOS red one.
Sometimes it's hard to live on an island, you must wait an eternity to receive a simple parcels and not to mention the big taxes...
I turn towards gold valves kit.
Do you think it is possible to exchange the cap compression damping with that of a more recent for low/high speed?
